Anyone here do a 4 day week? I am thinking of doing this next year when the kids are home everyday. It will be a field trip day or a running around day or just a laze around day. They will have to double up on some things the rest of the days but I asked them about it and they seem thrilled! I was just curious if anyone else does this.

I used to, yes. The 5th day was for sports and field trips. Our homeschool group did basketball or soccer 1 day a week in 6 week blocks. Those days were just too hectic, so we doubled that day as a field trip day or a fun art day and didn't do any other school. The 5th day's work was evenly distributed amongst the other 4 days. Made things so much easier.

we do 4 days and I love it. It gives me the flexibility to do other things one day a week w/ out feeling like we have to cram in school too.
Plus, we're pretty far ahead on most of our stuff, and Im planning on continuing "light" school during summer as well, so I don't have to cram all my days an 9 months.. they're spread out over 12.
Of course, Im also not a very structured person, and neither is school for us, so it doesn't bother me as much.... to fluff off here and there..

We pretty much don't do much on Friday's anyway.. Sometimes i do, but most times i feel burned out by Friday and want a long weekend. We usually go out or do field trips, play, whatever we want. :)

Last year I almost always took Fridays off. We doubled up during the first part of the week. This year we either have very light days on Fridays or don't have any school on Fridays, just depending on how things are going. I love it!

We do 4 day weeks as my two girls go to a homeschooling academy every Tuesday. So, at least it is a 4 day week for me. We will also be doing stuff most of the summer. I'm kind of like firstoftwelve. I'd rather take days off here and there as needed and keep doing school in the summer when there isn't as much extra activity going on.
I have a friends who has always done 4 day weeks (for over 20 years) because her husband is off on Fridays. Always worked for her, but she's pretty laidback too.

We don't do 4 day weeks, we have a schedule and it changes because we may have errands to run or activities going on. We are flexible but a schedule is needed with my children because I have found out they work best that way. I try to keep them busy because if they don't they get bored and then the picking on each other starts. Like now gotta go.
