Has America forgotten the War of Independence? In that war, the United States learned the costly lesson of depending on foreign nations. Then, because of a lack of manufacturing power, the U.S. had to rely on other nations to supply all sorts of military equipment, and Britain routinely cut America’s supply lines. To correct this weakness, America’s founders implemented a national strategy promoting industrial and military self-sufficiency in order to enhance the nation’s security.

So it's not just our clothes that are made in China? Lol.
I personally believe we depend too much on foreign countries. China is big enough now, that if we do anything to trade with them it will hurt us!
If we kept the jobs in our country, and let immigrants work, at least when the immigrants spend their money, it will stay in the US!
Not enough workers you say? We have millions of people from Mexico and China who want to come here badly. So many in fact, we have a lottery system and only allow a predetermined amount in a year (thus and illegal alien problem). Just let a few more in.
Worried about them asking for aid and poverty? At least we'd have more money staying in our country to help them if they need it.
Countries like China are not part of the us, but at the same time we are connected like Great Britain and the colonies (maybe without them being as highly taxed!). Eventually they are gonna get tired of us and break away on their own leaving us in the cold.
Just my opinion. :scratch
Someone else might have a better insight on this. I just know whatever we are doing right now isn't working.

If you look a little closer at the Boeing contract, quite a bit of their tanker would have been manufactured in Asia. Plus, this will mean approximately 2000 jobs for the Mobile, Alabama area. Most of the politicians crying about this are Democrats, and a Boeing victory would have meant jobs for Seattle, Washington, a Democratic stronghold. Lots of the protest over this is purely political. Boeing also won this contract a couple of years ago, but it turned out there was some illegal activities in the bidding process, so the contract was rebid. Boeing is not the innocent, wronged party they'd like everyone to believe right now.

While I was in the military, Clinton did several base closures in the US. I noticed more and more Chinese coming to our bases and then heard that he was selling some of the closed bases to the Chinese gov't.:thinking

The military is also considering recruiting foreigners. There are some in the military now I believe that are legal immigrants but not citizens - not sure but pretty sure. :thinking

I think that you're right. Oddly enough US citizenship is not required to be in the US military, at least not in the enlisted ranks.

There are thousands of foreign born men and women serving in our military. This is nothing new.
They can be legal or illegal. Or, they can seek recruitment from their country of birth.
During specified times of war, it is a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
If they serve during peacetime, it is NOT a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
Personally, I'm very impressed with these men and women and feel strongly that they deserve naturalized citizenship.
Afterall, they are willing to die for our country.

I agree. I am vehemently anti-amnesty from living on or near the southern border 96% of my life, but if one were to serve us for a pre-determined time and display loyalty, I am all for granting citizenship. Absolutely.
