I was Just watching Beth Moore on television. She stayed in scripture, and I enjoyed her talk. I just want to ask any of you if you have any misgivings about her ministry. I'm just trying to be careful of who I listen to.:thinking

My own personal feelings which are based in my own views and perceptions:
Beth Moore makes me feel like my life as a stay at home mother is insignificant. The books of hers that I read gave me an over all feeling of "bet you can't wait for your kids to be grown so you can have a REAL ministry" as if my ministry to being at home with them is not fulfilling, or if I think its fulfilling I don't know what I'm missing. That being a wife and mother alone is not enough to fulfill my potential.
I do NOT mean to say she is down on motherhood and being a stay at home, because she does not say that. What I AM saying is that when I read her books I do see her saying how much more we can do once our kids are grown.....and it makes me feel like she sees my life as burdened down by my family as it is right now.
Now these were the books she wrote a few years ago. Now that she has started endorsing some of the emergent church/contemplative spirituality/lies lies lies/feel good prosperity gospel, I will not have her books or spoken words in my home anymore.
Just my 2 cents.

Willow, I'd seriously take the time to read through the thread provided at the above link. There's a lot more to Beth Moore (I totally did not intend a pun) :candle

That bothers me too about women in ministry (just different authors i have read, by means not all of them though)
That is the most important job we can ever have, and i for one am SO very glad to be called to my quiverful the Lord gave me. This is a ministry in itself, raising kids' for God and His glory! I'm sorry to hear that about Beth Moore -- i haven't read really but one of her books but it was SO good, it's disapointing that some Christian women are so down on women that choose to be SAHM's to their family and raise them for God - that they do not see that this is a ministry as well and a VERY important one. I mean sheesh it is the first calling we had in the beginning -- Wife/helpmeet and Mother

Hi Willow,
I have never read Beth Moore's books, but I did attend one of her conference's (some older ladies at church twisted my arm) a few years ago. My experience was not a good one. First of all, she claims to receive direct prophecy from God at each an every conference, so she never plans what she will be speaking on ahead of time. She even brags about this...and so do her fans. She just prays beforehand and God supposedly speaks through her. I don't know any pastor that doesn't prepare for his sermons all week long...so I have a bog problem with Moore's method. She even stopped midsentence at the conference and said "I have received an impartation from the Lord..." I was totally weirded out.:rolleyes
In addition, she started off the conference teaching us how to, essentially, demand things of God. She had us think of a question that we wanted to have answered that weekend, write it down, pray about it silently, and then shout it out loud (abracadabra, anyone?). She stated that God had told her that He was going to answer an important question for each of us that weekend, and that once we presented Him with the question, He would answer the next day.
The entire weekend was totally disjointed. Her messages did not flow in any way. The conference was broken up into 3 sessions, and they had nothing to do with each other and it was hard to even follow what she was saying. I don't remember her ever making any going points. And of course, my question was never answered.:scratch
My friends who dragged me there said afterwards, "well, she really wasn't on her game this time" so even they noticed.:twitch
I think the woman is full of herself...and full of baloney.:shifty

Wow!! I can't believe after what you wrote why anyone in the world would want to listen to this woman?? Receiving special messages from God in the middle of a speaking event?? :doh :ohno
People seem to be afraid these days of speaking out against these false teachers and instead absorbing every bit of their lies. It's kind of like the itching ears kind of thing, people are just in love with "special revelations" and all this "prophet/prophetess" type stuff, they don't even spot the fakes standing 10 feet in front of them. :doh I hope people read what you wrote and run from folks like Beth Moore, etc. :ohno

Now.. I don't know how many of your have viewed the "Be Still" DVD?? Beth Moore is on this, along with Priscilla Shirer (another woman put on a pedestal for her women's Bible Studies)
It is the FREAKIEST DVD-- truly a solid believer will KNOW this DVD is false teaching and UNSCRIPTURAL. It IS!
This is a time where Satan is truly appearing more and more as an angel of light.
Brethren IN Jesus.. beware! The Wolf PACK in Sheep's clothing is growing as we near Jesus' return!

You know
One of my friends from youth, she is still an unbeliever
I literally shudder when I consider all the smoke and mirrors touted as Christian these days, how would she hear the truth? I've witnessed to her, and we all know how it goes with witnessing to someone who knows all your flaws........*sigh*
I'm truely coming to see and believe all new faith comes solely from the Holy Spirit because there is SO much crap out there..........
