Hello. I hope that this is the right place to post this. If not, I do apologize. My name is Andre. I just joined this forum. I did post an introduction. I was raised in a Christian home, but I drifted away in my teen years. I've come back to the faith the last couple of years. I've been going to church and reading my Bible. I want to get into a deeper and more serious study of the Bible. I grew up with, and still love, the King James Version of the Bible. It's the translation I'm comfortable with using. I was hoping to get some advice on study material that would help me in my devotion time.

Does anyone have any recommendation on:
1. King James Version Study Bible?
2. Bible Commentary
3. Bible Concordance
4. Bible Dictionary

Any other books, websites, etc. that you would recommend to anyone who is trying to study in more detail the Word of God?

Thank you. I appreciate your help. God bless you.

Hi andremonroe and welcome to Rapture Ready:hat

I recommend downloading Esword

http://www.e-sword.net/

With the basic download you get the KJ with Strong's numbers. they have an incredible list of free and for pay downloads that you can put with the software. I use the Gill commentary a lot, Matthew Henry and JFB. the K&D I also highly recommend for OT. For dictionaries, I use the Easton and Nave (in addition to the Strong's). They also have maps and other graphics, devotional books, etc.

The best thing is you can download it now and start using it right away. If you have dialup and don't want to download you can send them a donation of $15 and they will send you a CD with most of the free downloads. being able to link directly to a commentary or dictionary on a word is a tremendous time saver.

Also this is a very good discipleship training that covers all of the fundamentals in detail.

Also from this same website, one of the best single books on end times prophecy is Footsteps of the Messiah by Arnold Fruchtenbaum.

I down loaded e-sword but can't figure out how it works....I'm SO technically challenged.

I really like (Blue Letter Bible) blb.org. You can look up Bible verses, it has a concordance and commentaries. One of the audio collections is the Bible Bus Man ...J. Vernon McGee. :thumb

Gracethrufaith.com is Jack Kelley's site and it has TONS of articles and studies on it. He does a thru the Book of Revelation and his book of Daniel study is the best I've ever seen. :thumb

khouse.org is Chuck Missler's site, he has some great studies on his site too.

A couple must haves, to any Christian Library, is Arnold Fruchtenbaum's book "Footsteps of the Messiah" and a Strong's Concordance. My studies really took off when I got my Strongs. Fruchtenbaums site is ariel.org

Understandthetimes.org is Roger Oakland's site and it has a wealth of information on the false teachings and apostacy entering the Church.

And AnswersinGenesis.com

I recommend the following commentary by William McDonald: http://www.thebereancall.org/node/4707

He died on December 25, 2007. The Lord gave him some tremendous insights while he was on this earth.

For Bible study, I also recommend the sermons of a Calvary Chapel pastor named Bob Hoekstra. No pastors are perfect, but he is one of the few sound pastors that I have come across. You can find his sermons at www.livinginchrist.org

I also recommend the following Bible dictionary: http://bible.christiansunite.com/Eastons_Bible_Dictionary/

seconding those and adding that i got the Strong's exhaustive concordance with Vine's, and redletter edition... and it has been invaluable, i need to get the Fruchtenbaum book- i think i'm the one of the few here who dosen't have it.
i love Dr Mcgee's TTB program, i have downloaded the whole thing and put it on my MP3 player to listen to a few hours at a time....

I have been reading Warren Wiersbe's commentary on the book of Ephesians. I can highly recommend it. It is very good. I believe that Wiersbe also has a complete commentary on the bible. I am hoping to obtain the entire commentary for myself. I have a Mathew Henry complete commentary and it is pretty good even though it is dated quite a bit, it is still pretty good.

I can second your recommendation for Dr. McGee. I also have the complete set of mp3's for his five year through the bible audio commentary. I love Dr. McGee, he is very knowledgeable about the bible and has a good sense of humor as well, very easy to listen to.
