I'm in the Air National Guard. I've asked a few members of my family (one very smart and well-researched brother and another brother who is also in the National Guard) what would happen to the military if this all went down, and I'm not to sure about it....does anybody have any ideas on this, or maybe an inside view?
The last thing that I would want in this situation is to be apart from my family-I don't know if they'd just get rid of the Guard altogether, and keep Active-Duty only, or nothing would happen to the Guard and Active-Duty would be downsized....I'm really wondering and concerned here....any takes on this?

If what all went down? The economic - financial destruction of America?

Just my opinion as I can't site any proof, but I believe that the military would be supported to the end in a severe economic downturn. There are resource reserves just for defense.

I wouldn't worry about your stint in the service right now. There is a long ways to go. Some things could change very fast, but defense would be the last to go down should that even be in the future. Just because there are strong indicators that things are run amuck right now doesn't mean they will. All things must be in our Lord's timing. Being in Christ and He in me, I have no business fretting over anything. So I won't. :hat

I've posted about this before. From everyone I've talked to on here and irl, you should be fine. If things get really bad, you're actually likely to be busier than ever. I also expect most of the reserves and inactive reserves would get activated. The president has a lot of authority now in a state of emergency, and keeping law and order will be #1 priority.

Besides where else will the governmnet get the manpower to enforce the inevitable martial law and put down the big riots if things go sour. It seems that at one time or another when hyperinflation happens there are eventually riots and other forms of uncivil disobedience.

Yes, coupled with a worldwide food shortage, it could get ugly.

ugh, I can't imagine being one of the troops that the government commands to control the starving masses-when its their fault in the first place! Anyway, thanks for the input guys....I hope to be floating up on outta here before anything too horrible happens anyway, but you never know.....
Theres just no way I could enforce martial law. Absolutely not. Sorry Bush!
