Oh no. I was visiting in Florida for about a month from Nov to the end of Jan and I went to Sweetbay several times. Is the theft still ongoing, or would we have seen something suspicious by now?

This seems to be the timeframe:

Hannaford became aware of the breach Feb. 27. Investigators later discovered that the data breach began on Dec. 7; it wasn't contained until March 10, said Carol Eleazer, Hannaford's vice president of marketing in Scarborough.

Okay, good. I didn't know exactly what they meant by contained.

I would keep an eye on your credit report, just in case!

I used a debit card, so that's what made me REALLY nervous. If they used that I would be in a lot of trouble until the bank got it resolved. I don't use credit cards.

Credit monitoring is a pain. You have to monitor all three bureaus, because sometimes things are reported to one and not another. That gets expensive. It's scary that people are enslaved by their credit reports, even if they don't use credit (which most people do). If it's on your credit report it is like it is written in stone.

I know, we only use cash or our debit card as well... I like using cash the best.

Be careful. Just because you don't have credit cards doesn't mean your credit is safe. Thieves love people with clear credit reports, especially those who don't check them because they think they don't have to.
