.... to a mac.

hahaha.. sorry for my horrible pun. Going PC to Mac is really a conversion!

I finally bought a 2.4 gig macbook, and I'm falling in love! I can't believe I literally despised macs once. Well, I still despise OLD macs - now THEY are frustrating machines! But the news ones? Well, fabulously easy!

It took me all of 10 seconds to connect to the internet, and all of 10 seconds to connect wirelessly to my PC to move over files! Incredibly simple!

I have 2 questions for the moment.

1. After about 10-15 seconds of no key/mouse activity, my screen dims (not screensaver, nor sleep). This is a tad annoying when watch a video. It happens even when connected to the AC adapter. I can't figure out how to change that.

2. On my PC I was a huge fan of opening my bookmarks, and clicking on a link to open in a NEW tab. I can't seem to do this on a mac. Is there a way to open bookmarked page in a new tab, rather than on the page you're viewing?

Thanks for your assistance! :thumb

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! :yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah

For the dimming thing: Not sure how to change that, I will research it! I just touch my spacebar or trakpad and it brightens up again.

When I want to open a bookmarked page, I always create a new tab (apple T) and THEN go to the bookmark. I am using Firefox.

Hold the apple key when clicking and you get your link in a new tab.

Go to system preferences and you cant set up hot corners (when to move your mouse to a specific corner of the screen) that will sleep or never sleep.

Enjoy your mac. They are not without issues, but much less frustrating than Windows.

Go into the System preferences (the icon that looks like a wall switch) and set your power saving settings appropriately. No, for the tab fro safari... Just hold down the Apple key (command key) and hit "T" and a new tab will appear. If you want to have that functionality as in windows to open your bookmarks in new tabs rather than the current one, Firefox is available for mac as well and runs quite nicely too. Let me know if you have anymore ??'s

hahaha.... no, i believe i've 'seen the light'. My macbook is pure white ;)

Uhhh... anyone know in passing, how to reinstall textedit? I *think* I may have deleted the program by accident, thinking I was deleting a shortcut. :panic

I downloaded firefox, btw... i like it much better than safari. I was using firefox on my pc too. So thanks for that suggestion.

Every operating system has it's pros and cons.
The trick is learning how to tweak the one you use.
