MEXICO CITY - If you’re seeing your grocery bill go up, you’re not alone.

From subsistence farmers eating rice in Ecuador to gourmets feasting on escargot in France, consumers worldwide face rising food prices in what analysts call a perfect storm of conditions. Freak weather is a factor. But so are dramatic changes in the global economy, including higher oil prices, lower food reserves and growing consumer demand in China and India.

The world’s poorest nations still harbor the greatest hunger risk. Clashes over bread in Egypt killed at least two people last week, and similar food riots broke out in Burkina Faso and Cameroon this month.

This is why I can't understand people who say everything will be fine with the economy since we're better off than many times in the past. Global food shortage, rising energy costs, and the destruction of our dollar--yes indeed, all the pieces of a 'perfect storm' are falling into place. Who knows which way the scale will tip.

I hate this thought- but it keeps recurring the past several days...I think it may be about time to dig in. I mean really dig in- like getting ready for a hurricane to hit. I think I would rather face a hurricane or tornado any day over what I suspect is coming in the days/weeks/months ahead.

If nothing changes drastically for us, July will find us facing foreclosure. We may also be heading back to greater Phoenix in June- a throwing in of the towel. Will we be able to or will we dig in here? There is pro and con for both scenarios and very tough to plan for.

These little symptoms are getting too big and too numerous for the health of the system- as I deduce.

Your will, o Lord, your will.

I was discussing this topic not to long ago and the other person had some kind of easy explanation of how there was plenty of grain or something in Brazil? HELLO! It doesn't seem to make any difference what is happening with any number of issues people seem to be totally blind to what's actually going on. Don't think they should be entirely pessimistic, but they're unrealistically optimistic when all the evidence is piled right in front of them. Bottom-line, they can't bear to acknowledge what their conscience is really telling them and just insist on denial.

2 weeks ago, a loaf of store brand (Publix) white bread was 89 cents. This past Friday it had gone up to $1.29 :shocked A gallon of milk was $4.29. My MIL says it's $5 in NY. 20cents to a dollar more for each item, ADDS UP!

Brother I'm praying for you and your beautiful family!
The Lord will guide you with what to do.

But if you do go back to AZ, are you guarenteed a job there? My relatives have lived in Tucson for 60 years now. :)

Hang tight bro!

Thank you again beloved friend and sister, and yes- guaranteed jobs with solid increases... The cost of living is higher though, so we may draw even. We will aim for far north valley if possible. Easy exit! :heh

You and yours are in my thoughts and subjects of my prayer as well.

These are trying times with no end in sight, UNTIL our Redeemer comes. I do believe that as the birth pangs intensify, there will be nowhere to escape. It will be felt everywhere! But God takes care of His own and leads accordingly:amen
