Ever have one of those moments where you wonder what those in power are smoking and why it isn't being shared with the rest of us?
The US Justice Department said a merger would not harm competition, saying a combined firm would not harm and may help consumers and competition.
Although the two companies operate the only satellite radio firms in the US market, the Justice Department said there is "a lack of competition between the parties in important segments even without the merger" and that consumers may still choose "alternative services."
Ok most people I know would use the word Monopoly here. I was always taught that Monopolies were bad and the government was supposed to keep those from happening. Why then in recent years have we seen so many consolidations and mergers that are recreating monopolies that were once broken up? Then when they allow this they try to tell us that it's for our own good????!!!!!
