Has anybody done much research into Phil Pringle?

Leader of a Charismatic Pentecostal church

He's appearing at a YC Generation conference in Edmonton Alberta. The other speaker is a known false teacher named John Bevere. They hook the youth by the music groups and offering an "experience from God". However I do think that this experience is a seducing spirit masqerading as the Holy Spirit.

His limited stmt of faith says that they believe in "the second baptism of the Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues".

Apparently he as a prophet predicted a great revival in New Zealand for 2005 which of course never happened.

Of course he has one of those mega churches 7,000 + and is very wealthy.

H'mm more disconcerting stuff. Apparently Phil Pringle sits on the board of Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho's Church Growth International organization.

I haven't heard of his name before and I suspect he is from across the Tasman. Brian Tamaki is big here in NZ.

But from you described he has all my sirens sounding - I found that those who are actively Charismatic, or semi-encourage the baptism of the Spirit in this manner, are often the big sympathizers of a mix of Bill Hybels-Rick Warren-Mark Driscoll-Emergent church theologies.

In general, the church scene in New Zealand and Australia is pretty bad - the evangelical-sounding churches are like this, while the far more numerous mainline denominations have already gone all-ecumenical with Catholics, all liberal in theology, and who do "social justice social gospel" all the time. And the general population is generally "without religion".

So I found some more stuff in a brief summary here.

Phil Pringle - Australia

Popular purveyor of the false teachings, anointings and prophecies of the Charismatic Movement.

Predicted for 2005 in New Zealand the greatest revival that that nation has ever seen in history. He saw lightning coming down from heaven. He saw people running to church in Welland and Auckland.

Of course this never happened!

He sits on the Church Growth International board of a well known false teacher named Paul Yonggi Cho who has a 70-80,000 member church in Korea. Cho is pastor of the world’s largest Pentecostal church but teaches “New Age positive thinking” and “occult visualization techniques”.

Phil Pringle hosts another well known false teacher at his church by the name of Benny Hinn.

And another couple here:
A trail of positive / possibility thinking preceded this current move; eg. the Church that hosted RHB (Rodney Howard Browne) in Sydney also hosted Robert Schuller's Australian visit (Phil Pringle's Christian City Church). Frank Houston, Founder of Christian Life Centres, (then) State Superintendent of NSW AoG, hosted John Arnott's 'Catch the Fire' campaign. He acclaimed Norman Vincent Peale as one of the greatest influences in his life at a service I attended in 1992 (Houston was subsequently defrocked in 2002 over homosexual pedophile activities in NZ prior to his move to Australia in the mid-1970's).).

Brian Houston took over his father Frank’s church and is on the same page as Phil Pringle

Birds of a feather flock together!

From his web site http://www.ccc.org.au

His Stmt of Faith though very limited has the following false doctrines

1. There is a second baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues
2. There are modern day apostles and prophets that God is raising up and anointing for this generation’s big revival

Heretical views on the Holy Spirit but Consistent with Ideas of False Anointings and the “Presence of God”

Phil Pringle ( PP ) was recorded at Wellington on the 19th March 2002

PP " The atmosphere you create will attract spiritual power. Spirits live in spiritual atmospheres. You can create an atmosphere that attracts God or repels God."

PP then describes how Jesus wants to clean up certain areas, and focuses on the toilet.

PP "Jesus came to 'clean us up' ".

PP further describes how Jesus wants to clean certain areas of our lives that are 'messed up'.

PP "He wants to clean up the brown smears on the bowl".

Then in reference to the atmosphere (in the toilet) PP continues on.

PP "The power of God is a tangible force."

PP goes on to describe the power of God as 'stuff'.

PP "The stuff of God can actually live in your clothes. It can get in the carpet, it can get in your hair. The stuff of God, the anointing. This stuff can get into your body and heal it. This stuff can get into your bank account. Praise God, now we're talking amen. I need some of that in my bank account. It's imparted through the laying on of hands. It's inside your body, when you lay hands on people it travels."

LC - The whole idea that God is stuff is in essence Monistic. I.e. The concept that creation and God are essentially one and the same. It is a materialistic worldview and not supported by the Bible.
The Holy Spirit is NOT 'stuff'. "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" Romans 8:16 "
...and he shall give you another Comforter , that he may abide with you for ever; 17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, ..." John14:15 .
Doesn't this mean His spirit is intertwined with ours?
As well, P. Pringle refers to the Holy Spirit being like electricity - an extension of matter.
