I have a good friend online anmed Paul who has a fairly severe case of Asperger's Syndrome. I've read there are a number of members here with that, and also parents with AS/autistic children, so I invited him to come and told him I'd post a welcome for him. I don't know if he'll actually post or not, but I told him about the site, anyway.

He's from Australia, and has had some really rough things growing up that he'll reveal if he feels comfortable, but if not, just know that that might be why he finds it hard to trust that people will be his friends. I've tried to be the best example of Jesus Christ I can be to him, and I think he's trusted Christ ashis Savior, but he may have a lot of questions because of his Catholic background. (Though he pretty much understands certain people were just pretending to be Christian - I believe I've mentioned the example I use with that of someone saying they're the King of belgium. Just because someone lies and says they're the King of Belgium, then goes and does all sort of mean stuff, that has no relation to the actual King of belguim, nor to Belgians, because they have no control over an impostor. I imagine his Asperger's has made discernment of false Christians tougher.)

Anyway, he's a big fan of the TV sitcom "Full House," and I've helped him as he created a whole series of fanfics based on the Book Universe of that show, wherein there's a bit of witnessing in general, and we see the famiily help a neglected girl. that's probably what he's proudest of creating himself. (I put together a whole Chronology of the show, TV and Book Universe, that is more realistic, with the oldest sister having the role of the mom behind the scenes, etc.; this is pretty obvious in some books, anyway, as they're more conservative than later TV years.) He's also going to college via correspondence/online courses.

So, if he does come, please welcome him, he's really a nice fellow who will no doubt enjoy some parts of the community, anyway, even if only reading. because, I can tell this is a community of Christians who really do try hard to exemplify who christ is in their posting habits and in their attitudes. And, that consistent example is what he really needs, as unlike some with milder AS it's hard to him to get out, with that and other physical problems. But, he does enjoy it online.

Well, wishing Paul a real heartfelt welcome if he joins us :hug ...from a mom of an autistic son myself. There are quite a few of us on the forum with children of autism or aspergers. I hope he doesn't shy away and is able to join us in some discussions that interest him. :wave
