Have you been to http://www.highlights.com/ ?
I remember the highlights magazine from when I was a little girl. I loved it.
It looks like Highlights has expanded. They have a ton of educational toys and magazines that look like fun.
I am thinking about getting the 'Which Way USA' series to do this summer.

They also do Top Secret Adventures which is a blast! It is a great way to study a different country each month (24 in all). It is what we use for World Geography. :)

What age range do you think it's best for, Green Darner?

Any age that likes doing puzzles LOL!
I don't like giving age ranges because I believe the whole point of homeschooling is to break out of those age-range pidgen holes that public schools have.
In my opinion it depends more on the particular child's abilities, interests and learning style and less on their age. And then you adapt accordingly.
For example: I read the information to my daughter (who isn't a fluent reader yet) and we do the puzzles together. My son who is a very fluent reader does everything by himself.
If neither one of my children enjoyed doing puzzles, then I would use something more suited to their learning style.
