For the last several weeks DH, the girls & I, have been looking for a new church. We left our old one due to not feeling a part of the church, after six years. The girls didn't feel like their peers accepted them, we would go to pot lucks at this church & no one with in the church would sit with us. We would even invite people to sit with us but they would smile & walk away. If we tried to sit down they would tell us that they were waiting for someone else & they were saving the seats. A couple of weeks ago when I ran into our former minister & explained to him why we had left. He said that he knew there were problems but figured they had worked themselves out.:doh We even went to a play with some of the members of this church before Easter, no one from the church talked to us except to ask a couple of general questions. WE decided that it was time to step up the looking, a couple of weeks ago we visited a local Baptist church, the people were friendly the kids felt accepted by their peers, we enjoyed the Sunday School & the minister delivered one of the best messages that I have heard in along time. Last Sunday when the girls & I, got home from visiting another church ( DH was sick). We talked it over & my die hard UMC DH said that he felt led to go back to the Baptist church that we had been to Easter Sunday.:yeah This is were I felt God lead us also. So PRAISE THE LORD !!!!!!!!!!! We now have a new church to call our church home.

I have tears in my eyes, because I am so happy for you! :yeah It is so hard sometimes to find solid preaching and a loving congregation with generous spirits that reach out to new comers. Praise God for his marvelous grace and mercy in leading you to this fine church.

WOW! The exact same thing happened to us. Your story lines up with my story exactly. We have found a new church also for the same reasons. Praise God for his goodness.:heythere

It must be a common thing because we went through the same thing a few years ago, almost exactly except we didn't have our son yet. So it was pretty much all the adults ignoring us like we wasn't even there. We tried to talk to them and they would always walk right on by and talk to someone behind us.

What does this say about the churches out there in this world today? :faint

I've been going through this same thing too at the church that we're at now;I've tried to smile at people and start conversations, but usually they will just act like they really don't want to talk or even be very friendly for that matter. Me and my two youngest sons are the only ones in our family who go to church, and my youngest seems to get along well with his age group and his teachers are wonderful, but my other son and I still just don't feel like we fit in,and it can be very lonely and hard to understand when you're experiencing this kind of thing.
We've been going to this church for about 2 1/2,and they're starting down the purpose-driven road-there's so many changes going on and Rick Warren's book on sale in the foyer-so we're going to be moving on to where ever the Lord leads us. I've already tried to talk to the pastor about the dangers of this movement, sent informative,biblically-based articles about it all,and now we feel even more uncomfortable and unwanted there that ever before.
I'm thinking of just doing church at home for at least a little while before venturing out again too soon into another church.

I'm glad the Lord lead you to a nice church family-I had tears welling up reading your post! God Bless :hug :pray
