Can any one recommend a good kids bible???
For my Granddaughter who is 7 and already is a pretty good
reader for her age.
She has been going to church with us (usually DH& I and maybe her mom
our #2 DD) but last Sunday her step dad went with us.
And I noticed that she was looking through one of the pew bibles.
And I asked her is she would like one of her own--- and she said Yes.
And A Praise that same Step dad got saved Last Sunday:yeah
I know the good Lord works in mystical ways, but I just about :faint
don't get me wrong I'm Very happy about him getting Saved.
I just didn't think I would be seeing that happen for awhile if at all in
my life time, because he was being kinda shall we say stubborn:doh

just use your regular bible.. but have her read verses that's easy to understand and read.
It will be a start for her. Sometimes I don't like waterdown bible for the sake of kids.. But stories with a biblical moral point are very good. Like Keys for kids devotional (it's free in the mail, I forgot the web address but I think you can look it up)

For a 7 year old, I'd recommend The Children's Bible in 365 Stories or some variation of. My children had that one and they or I would read a story out of it at bedtime. As they were growing up, I also bought a number of One Year Kids' Devotional Books, like Sticky Situations, there are a ton of different one's out there, they have a short story with a moral lesson or character builder behind it. At the end of the little one page story there are a couple questions and then a Bible Verse that ties the "lesson" together along with a prayer. :thumb I think those did a lot for my kids. I don't see a 7 year old being able to pick up a standard Bible of any version, and get much from it at that age. With a Children's Story Bible I see them getting a love of Jesus and our Bible Characters by reading His Word if they are introduced to these types of books early.
When I was a tween I read The Way...that is back when Ditto's were popular...hahaha http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/50/91/c7b3228348a0e64e7812d010._AA110_.L.jpg
For High School Graduation I was given a NIV, but about 12-15 years ago I started reading the KJV and have 3 here because I write in all my Bibles and the pages start falling out. :lol2 In short...in my own experience, I would start her out with a Children's Story Bible and graduate her up through Bibles on special birthdays, like....now that your "10", "13", "16"....
May God bless her and her father in their new Walk! :hug

I have given The Treasure Study Bible to my grandchildren (KJV), and they love it! (By the way, the KJV was used by children of all ages in classrooms in the 1800s and early 1900s, as evidenced by the antique McGuffey Readers that I have collected, and they understood it just fine.)
In the front and back it has topics (treasures) that children or anyone might want to find out what God has to say about the subject, and where to find it in the Bible.
Below is the ISBN reference number on the back of the copy that I have kept for myself. Just type it in your Google search engine, and you should get a list of places you can buy it online, and prices.
Type in:
ISBN 0887073867
This is a hardback copy, with a jungle picture on the front.

Well, this thread is not going to be turned into another argument over versions, but with that said, I personally use the KJV. My last 2 kids still at home are 12 and 16 and when I was reading them the Bible at night, using the KJV, they sat there with blank stares. In the 1800's and early 1900's the language would not sound odd to the ear, as it does for kids today. This is a 7 year old, in 21st Century America.

I'm not sure why you quoted a sentence from what I wrote to bring up the subject of an argument, when no one was arguing over anything. I don't post too much, because of arthritis in my hands, but try to be helpful to others when I can. Thought it would be helpful to PRZ-Him to offer an experience from my family, as well as an historical perspective. My grandchildren were six years old.
If they are introduced to it at a young age it does not sound "odd to the ear".
I don't come to this board to argue with people. Thanks for making me feel like dirt, Super Moderator.

I looked at Children's Bibles a Wally (Walmart)World.
And found that I like The Adventure Bible for Kids the best.
And decided that I will be getting one of those for her.

I posted almost this exact same question in Christian chat (I didn't get no answers :( :heh but the mods could merge it into this one, if they'd like). The one I wound up buying my niece a long while ago was the KJV "seaside" edition; it is all KJV, Jesus' words in red, but it has illustrations/drawings like the older childrens Bibles used to have; full page color drawings with the accompanying verse on the page. Other than that, I'm at a loss. I like other translations, like the NASB, but the version they have for girls and boys is aimed at older children.
