I am putting something together and have found the scripture references I need except one. The one I am looking for is the one that warns against using images and statues. Not the old testament one about false idols though but rather the one many bible based churches use to explain why they don't have crucifixes, pictures, or statues in their church.
Thank you in advance.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth
Ex. 20:2,4
Thou shalt have none other gods before me Deut.5:7
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God Lev.19:4

Thank you. I think that is what I am looking for. But is there a new testament verse that says something similar?

I don't have first hand knowledge of those who don't allow images and statues. I have a guess however that they do not allow these things for the sake of the spiritually weaker members of the body. It seems to be our nature to desire to worship these sorts of iconic items. 1 Corinthians 8 addresses this by telling us that we should, in love, sacrifice our own freedom in Christ so that the spiritually weaker members are not tempted to venerate a statue.
1Co 8:4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one.
1Co 8:5 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,
1Co 8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.
1Co 8:7 However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
1Co 8:8 But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.
1Co 8:9 But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.
This talks about food sacrificed to idols, but the general principle is not to do things that may cause a brother to stumble. Paul really speaks at length about this in 1Cor 8-10.:)

I looked at it and bookmarked it. Have you checked out http://e-sword.net. It is an awsome nible study program that is completely free. There are only a few bible version downloads that cost to unlock them but there is a huge collection of free versions of the bible, comentaries, concordances, and much more. And when I said FREE download I meant it. It isn't like most so called free stuff that expires after 30 days and you have to pay to keep it, it is truly free and a great program.
