Oprah Has the "Right Idea" on Spirituality
Published April 6th, 2008 by Ken Silva in New Spirituality
In The Desert Sun a Rev. Joe Hooper
"pastor at the Religious Science Church of the Desert Spiritual Center" writes:
Oprah Winfrey is a mighty force. Some might say that at times she’s as mighty as a river.
Who else could get hundreds of thousands of people all over the world to log onto a webcast for the sole purpose of uniting with one another spiritually?
Perhaps Oprah’s greatest gift is to realize how many of us thirst for spiritual fulfillment and to help us use the latest technology to do find it.
What may surprise some of us is to find out that the message
Oprah promotes has been around for hundreds of years,
even though it may become diminished the moment someone tries to label is as a particular religion or spiritual philosophy…
What if we genuinely opened ourselves up to the respect and honor of those who partake of any religious or spiritual connection…
Well, Rev. Hooper, those of us who are Christians would agree that everyone has a right to believe whatever they want to,
and in that regard we certainly agree
that we whould "respect and honor" their incorrect beliefs about God.
So, now you also must "respect and honor" the historic orthodox
Christian faith which says, "Jesus is the only way to God,
every religion that disagrees with this view is wrong
and everyone who is not in Christ is on their way to Hell."
Puts tolerance in perspective, doesn’t it…
