NEW DELHI -- The head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization on Wednesday urged world leaders to attend a summit in early June to discuss what he described as an "emergency" global food shortage.
"In the face of food riots around the world like in Africa and Haiti, we really have an emergency," FAO chief Jacques Diouf told a news conference in New Delhi.
Diouf said as populations have moved to the cities, food output has stagnated, prices have risen and food stocks are at their lowest since 1980.
He said this crisis should be addressed by the 191 members of the FAO in Rome in early June.

I wonder what solution they will come up with, and how much is going to cost Americans? I'm sure whatever they come up with, were not doing enough and should do more.

i know of a person in Christian ministry who provides amazing food boxes around the world for hungry kids/families. these boxes are superbly designed to grow food no matter what the weather is...all they need to grow is water.
I'm going to see if I can provide a link for y'all so you can see for yourselves. these boxes could have an impact on preventing ,to some extent, world food shortages.

Is it just me or is anyone else having doubts about all the "food shortage" stuff. ? Over the years, I have come to not put ANY trust in ANY government thing. All of a sudden, we're running out of food???? I dont know about you guys, but i smell a rat. I do know that the Lord says we shall have famines,,,,,and i believe what the Lord says, but it just seems like this "crisis" is not what it seems. Is is just me?

I believe the US already committed to 1/3 of what they are asking. Like...we can really afford any more aid.
I have no problem with helping to feed and clothe people, but I do have a problem with nations that take our money, and just buy weapons.
My bil was a missionary in Haiti, and I feel pretty confident that they do need it, but Africa is another story. I don't think the people ever see the aid....I believe the corrupt governments there keep it. If they were truly seeing that the people got all the money that was donated, these people would not be living in tents.
