More Global Warming Nonsense

By PAUL REITER and ROGER BATE
April 10, 2008; Page A14

Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will hold a hearing on the implications of climate change for human health. Malaria will top the menu, but so will ignorance and disinformation.
...

The lead witness will be Dr. Jonathan Patz of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has suggested that U.S. energy policy may be "indirectly exporting diseases to other parts of the world." Dr. Patz, the World Health Organization (WHO) and others claim that global warming is now spreading disease and may be the cause of some 160,000 deaths a year.:ohno

...

In 2007, for example, WHO pointed to rising temperatures in an outbreak of a mosquito-borne virus, Chikungunya, in Italy. Yet WHO misdiagnosed the problem. Modern transportation (JET PLANES), not climate change, caused the outbreak.

In that case, the transmitter of the disease, or vector, was the Asian Tiger mosquito. It is native to Asia, but exported world-wide in shipments of used tires. It is now abundant in parts of U.S. and in 12 countries in Europe. In cities, it breeds in man-made containers of water, such as saucers under flower-pots, water barrels, blocked gutters and so on. The virus was carried to Italy by an infected Indian who flew from Delhi, where an epidemic of the disease was then raging.

...

But throughout history the most critical factors in the spread or eradication of disease has been human behavior (shifting population centers, changing farming methods and the like) and living standards. Poverty has been and remains the world's greatest killer.

They have treatments for keeping the numbers of mosquitos down, yet they won't use them because they aren't "environmentally friendly" and were erroneously deemed unsafe for humans. So weird.

I'm waiting for the claim that "global warming" caused my divorce.

We've already had one couple proudly state that they had an abortion to “save the planet”.

Meet the women who won't have babies - because they're not eco friendly

By NATASHA COURTENAY-SMITH and MORAG TURNER

Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby, to have a pair of innocent eyes gazing up at her with unconditional love, to feel a little hand slipping into hers - and a voice calling her Mummy.

But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.

Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet. …
At the age of 27 this young woman at the height of her reproductive years was sterilised to "protect the planet".

Incredibly, instead of mourning the loss of a family that never was, her boyfriend (now husband) presented her with a congratulations card. While some might think it strange to celebrate the reversal of nature and denial of motherhood, Toni relishes her decision with an almost religious zeal.

"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni, 35. …

Most young girls dream of marriage and babies. But Sarah dreamed of helping the environment - and as she agonised over the perils of climate change, the loss of animal species and destruction of wilderness, she came to the extraordinary decision never to have a child.

"I realised then that a baby would pollute the planet - and that never having a child was the most environmentally friendly thing I could do."

You should see how PROUD she looks about this.

"Desperate measures: Toni Vernelli was steralised at age 27 to reduce her carbon footprint"

It's getting sicker out there.

:doh My sinful human side wants to point out to her that removing herself from the equation may help the planet to an even greater extent.

God forgive me... :pray I pray she will humble herself before the King and accept the precious gift of Jesus... :pray

Please come soon LORD... :pray :rapture :rapture :rapture

Has anybody else seen the commercials on either Fox or CNN saying that it's a climate CRISIS. They've topped using the term "global warming", and even "climate change". The nut jobs are now giving it a sense of urgency calling it a "climate crisis".

Some people taker it too far, but you honestly can't prove that Global Warming is a hoax.

Perhaps a look at the snow fall totals from this winter! Then again the gain in Ice mass at the south pole might prove it is a hoax.
The fact that we are causing it is even more rediculous. CO2 in the air would cut down on the light let in and infact cause the earth to cool. Remember in the late 60s and early 70s and the same crowd was warning of a new ice age!
Their whole line is bunk.

Personally I'm not interested in proving it's a hoax. I'm more interested in it being proved as a fact. Hey, the Global Warming folks could be right, but before we give out any more oscars or nobel prizes for advocating it, I'd really like to see a more civilized discourse amoung the scientists that advocate or question it's reality. Heck, I just found out today there is no actual law requiring US citizens to pay federal income taxes on wages. (Try looking THAT up sometime). :hat
