Col. 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

When Jesus comes at His second coming then we will appear with Him in glory, so it must be something pretty cool, but what is it?

Some thoughts about the "Glory of God"

>>-- It gives off smoke.

Rev. 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

>>-- It gives off light.

Rev. 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for theglory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

>>-- New Jerusalem has it.

Rev. 21
[10] And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
[11] Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

>>-- We are to rejoice in the hope of it.

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

>>-- It is used to measure righteousness.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

>>-- It can be seen.

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

>>-- It can be seen in God's creation.

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

hen Jesus comes at His second coming then we will appear with Him in glory, so it must be something pretty cool, but what is it?'Glory' (doxa) is an interesting word in the Greek. It implies 'obviousness', in the the sense of a question asked and answered or in a test taken and passed. 'Self-evident' would be a decent synonym for 'Glorious'.

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory
of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the
hope of glory:

That is one of my favorite verses. I think of Him being our only Hope, of having glorified bodies, and having the ultimate eternal priviledge to reign with Him -- in all His eternal, shining, righteous glory.

Hebrews 1:3 - "who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person..." This verse talks about Jesus Christ, being the glory of God.

Ok then what about this verse.

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

What was the glory that Jesus had before the world was?

could it be His manifested goodness?

Glory is the manifestation of the nature of God. It is that thing, that when we see it, it reveals God to us.

Heb 1:1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
Heb 1:2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
Heb 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Since Jesus is the radiance of the glory of God, to see Jesus or to know Jesus is to perceive the exact nature of God.

Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'"
Joh 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
Joh 1:17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

And since we are being transformed (transfigured) into the image of Christ, we reflect the nature of God and reflect His glory.

2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
