Ok so hubby and I found out last Monday that I am pregnant.. And I'm tellin' ya, ever since then I have been sooo sick. Just a bunch of nausea ALL DAY LONG. I feel that at all hours of the day I have to puke my guts out. The only time I get any relief is if I eat something so I have to eat something every hour or so! It's just miserable and it seems its getting worse every passing day...
Anyone have any advice or know of anything that will ease this awful nausea?? They say it's supposed to get better by after the first trimester but that could be anywhere from 6-7 weeks away! :fear
Just wondering!!!!
Oh yeah, and saltine crackers do nothing for me... Actually, I hate the taste of crackers....

You can try Ginger Ale...other than that I think it's just hang on til it passes. I was really sick with my first child, a girl and not a day of sickness with the rest-all boys. Were you sick before?

Sick before? What do you mean? This is going to be our first.... :)
And yeah I've heard of the ginger ale... Got some ginger tea and that didn't seem to help much...

Congratulations!! Sorry you are going through morning sickness, though.:hug
Boy your post brings back memories! I had severe nausea and vomiting with all three of my pregnancies, but it went away around 20 weeks. I had to go to the hospital for IV fliud with all 3 pregnancies b/c I could not keep anything down. So, then my Dr. put me on phenergan with my first preg., but it didn't work with my 2nd or 3rd so dr. put me on zophran and meclizine. Anyway, I hope that yours doesn't get that bad!! I think I was one of the rare ones that just happens to get that sick. It did not happen to any of my friends. They breezed through pregnancy without a hitch. I almost hesitate to tell you my story, except to let you know that I can empathize with you! All my babies were born healthy, btw. Just know it will pass. (then comes the constipation..:hat)
As far as eating crackers....well, nothing worked for me during the first trimester, so I cannot say. I have heard that there are anti nausea bracelets out there. They are supposed to put pressure on a nerve in your wrist that somehow relieves nausea. I do nto know if they work, but thought I would pass the info on to you anyway.
Hang in there....don't hesitate to call your OB and talk about it. Oh, there is a good book about being pregnant....goes through all the months and tells you what is happening and what you can expect..I cna't think of the name of it, but I will try to find it and post the name.
ETA: What to Expect When You are Expecting is the name of the book.

Oops..for some reason I thought you had a little one already. I can't keep up with all the baby/grandbabies we are having here! :)
Hopefully some ladies will come up with more ideas for you, I hope it passes quickly, I remember it was NO fun. Another weird thing was smells, I could not stand the smell of the a/c running in a car-any car. I could smell the sweet coolant and I was going through the morning sickness phase during summer too. I sympathize with you. :hug

Eating often really does help.. That helped some with my pregnany with my last l'il one.. Nothing else really did, the tea sortof -- i think it was peppermint or mint tea that was suggested.. Hope that helps!:)

Congratulations Girl!!! that's awesome!
Some advice from me might be to eat, and not worry about gaining weight. With three pregnancies, I was only sick twice (!) during all 3 terms. That's right! Only threw up a grand total of two times.
I quelled nausea by eating, and eating regularly. If you eat healthy food, you shouldn't gain too much weight. Plus, I'd rather gain a few pounds during pregnancy, and work it off later, then be barfing all day long.
Another idea is anything with ginger in it: ginger ale, ginger tea, ginger cookies, there are even lollipops for expectant moms called "prego pops" with ginger in them. (Google them to see where they are sold) Ginger root naturally settles the lining of your stomach.
One last suggestion is Sea Bands. These are bands that the Coast Guard uses against sea sickness, and it stabilizes your stomach as well. They're only 3 dollars at your local drugstore. (I haven't tried them, so I don't know about how effective they are. Might ask around to see if anyone else recommends them for morning sickness)
God Bless you and your little one! Children are 100% The Lord's Blessing!!!

I didn't discover these until my youngest began geting car sick. They really helped her with that - they are worth a try.
I did not have morning sickness - I had all-day sickness. I lost 10 pounds the first 8 weeks of my pregnancy (and I was a size 6 when I became pregnant) - I could not eat, especially meat. Goodness, just the thought of meat made me feel ill. I feel for you. It will pass, I promise.
Congratulations on the baby!!!!

Even before you get out of bed in the morning, nibble something. If you can't stomach the crackers, try ginger snaps.
Never let your tummy get empty, that is the best advice on keeping the nausea at bay.
Oh, and be careful with herbal teas hon ;)

Congratulations!! I didn't get sick with either of my pregnancies- but that may have been willpower as I loathe throwing up!!! I got nauseas one time with the first one- had to make my hubby eat his fast food dinner in the garage because the smell was making me sick!
I agree with keeping something in your stomach, though.
