Phil Haslanger informs us in The Captital Times that so-called Progressive Christian and scholar Marcus Borg

is one of those rare public religious scholars whose low-key demeanor masks the passion he generates across the spectrum of Christian groups.
For some, he represents the worst heresies of liberal Christianity,
wrapped up in the notion that he questions rather than accepts traditional understandings of God and Jesus.
For others, he represents a breath of fresh air,
taking those traditional understandings of God and Jesus and interpreting them in ways
that make more sense to people struggling with what religious belief means in the contemporary world…

But for those of us who have any semblance of critical thinking skills we can see that Borg’s essential message is:
"I don’t believe anything Christians believe, but I’m a Christian."
It is as I am quoted in this piece as saying:
"anyone (and I do mean anyone) who thinks that Dr. Marcus Borg is a Christian seriously needs to have his spiritual head examined."
