Church Applies for Alcohol License


In the ever increasing quest to be more and more 'relevant' one church,



rather than holding their services in a bar decided to get a licese to sell alcohol so that they could become a bar and sell booze at their church.

The UK's mainline churches, even 100x more so than their counterparts in the USofA (this is a common description British people use when referring to the United States), are more like social institutions than congregations for worship. I believe they are trying to set up cafes in churches for more businesses.

But the second point is also true - offering more "amenities" so that people will come to churches. The vision of church sitting comfortably as an institution among a visible community of "diverse values" - very much a "this world is all that is" mindset. <><

What immediately comes to mind is Jesus driving out the moneychangers and saying, My Father's house will be a house of prayer.
