The U.S. Geological Survey's (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/research/hazmaps/) new seismic hazard maps of Washington State show that one of the faults is south of Victoria, B.C., along the Olympic peninsula in the U.S.
Another -- much closer earthquake fault --is within 25 kilometers of Abbotsford, B.C.
Rogers says scientists believe that three earthquakes have occurred near that fault over the past 10,000 years. They can't predict when the next quake will occur, but chances are it won't likely be any time soon.
Hmmm. I don't know about the "any time soon" bit. The way earthquakes are happening in different places lately, I sure wouldn't bet our farm on it!!!
