i see it referenced here and there, usually in conjunction with the so called Toronto Blessing, but i havn't seen it discussed on its own.
And i have done websearches....
When i hear Pensacola, FL, i get nervous because my daughter's school is linked with the Pensacola Christian College and her curriculum is aBeka- and thats where it comes from. I'm scared to find out if the college was somehow affected.
Anyone have some exact details?

Anyone have some exact details?Maybe you need to go to their websites (don't forget Pensacola Theological Seminary) and see what they believe. You might discover they aren't affiliated with Brownsville.

Most homeschoolers I know use aBeka, and the parents are NOT charismatic at all...so I don't think you have to worry.:thumb

I use A Beka books for my 8th grader and I haven't found anything unscriptural. except some silliness in the Science book about dinosaurs being on the earth and using a passage in Job to "prove" it. Other than that, A Beka is an excellent curriculum.
I have never found any aberrant doctrine in A Beka books and I am one who stays clear away from the so-called charismatic revivals and associated doctrines, whether they be in Pensacola or elsewhere.

Pensacola Christian College is affiliated with the Church of Christ/Christian Church, so far at the opposite end of the spectrum from Brownsville Aseembly of God.
While we're on this topic, does any here believe in revival any more? I mean, with Toronto and others, every seems to pick them apart as false techers, deceptive, demonic, etc. Does anyone truly believe in Spirit-lead revival anymore?

Not really, the diametric 180 from the AOG would be the Calvinist churches like the hardline traditionalist Presbyterian types :heh. Revival is still possible, but I don't really believe in the "Spirit-led" being interpreted as emotional-high, wild tongue-speaking, etc.

Revival doesn't have to be wild tongues, etc., but just because some revivals may be, does not mean it isn't still heaven-sent. I just get so bothered by folks juding other believers who may feel they get a renewed love for the Father and/or His Word when others bash the event(s) as apostasy and demonic. I don't think we'll ever know who's right and who's wrong this side of Heaven, and frankly, I don't think it matters all that much.

Being in Pensacola myself, I can tell you that I don't think PCC is involved with Brownsville at all. I don't remember reading anything in the news here about them being connected. PCC is located in the center of the city, while Brownsville is located on the westside of the city. I think Brownsville as another poster stated is an "Assembly of God" church, but I'm not sure about PCC. I'd go check their website for more information. I did listen and watch a recent broadcast on TV of PCC, and the asisstant President or something like that gave the sermon and it was good. It was on the end times and stuff. I saw nothing funny in the sermon. :) But I'm not sure what their beliefs are though. :scratch
Brownsville was a small church before they started the Revival stuff, and Fitzpatrick and Hill started all that crazy stuff. :ohno There were all kinds of stories about these guys in the main newspaper here. Hill supposedly was living across the state line in Alabama in some extravagant housing accomodations or whatnot. I don't know about Fitzpatrick's housing accomodations, but they had some of the Revival stuff on TV here locally, and it was like the TBN telethons with all kinds of silly stuff being promoted. :doh :tsk There was something at one time about them asking people to donate at least $100 per session to get in the doors, etc. :rolleyes :tsk
I use to drive down that way in the day time for work, and there would be revival's 3-4 times a week and long lines way across the parking lot of people waiting to get in the doors. It's a shame what they did there, and they have made Pensacola a laughing stock for it as well. :tsk

Distinction of quietness is certainly a valid ground of differentiation, but a better means is to trace their theological roots. And C of C is theologically far more similar to the AOG than to the D. James Kennedy PCA church. :lol2
But frankly this is what most of the professing Christians in 2008 believe when they hear the world revival. I found the wording "renewed love for the Father and/or His Word" to be rather fuzzy: it could well have been a genuine expression of rededication and/or regeneration, but it could also mean an emotional response, and emotion is part of the flesh rather than spirit of man.
I know my words may sound offensive to some here. I make no apology for that because this modern misinterpretation of what revival, Spirit-led, etc really mean from their Scriptures-based counterparts.
