RENO, Nev. — Another earthquake struck the Reno area late Friday night, dumping cans off shelves, knocking pictures off walls and sending rocks off hillsides of the eastern front of the Sierra Nevada.

There were no immediate reports early Saturday of injuries or major property damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the 4.7-magnitude temblor hit at 11:40 p.m. and was centered six miles west of Reno near Mogul, where a swarm of more than 100 quakes rattled the area on Thursday. The biggest of those was a 4.2 event.

I don;t know if anyone else is from the Reno area, but we have been having swarms of earthquakes since February 28. Last night we had a big one - 4.7 which was right about a mile from me. It sounded like a bomb hit the house and all the glass flew out of the cabinets, stuff fell out of bookshelves, lights swaying, etc.

This has been happening steadily, I mean steadily, at least a dozen 1.0-3.0earthquakes a day in the last few days. Then since last night there've been 100+, aftershocks, but a few good ones. If you go to the other end of town, they barely know its happening.

Apprarently we are near a fault! We moved from California a few years ago and thought we left it all behind...THey say there is a chance of a 6.0 in the next few days which would definitely cause structural damage.

My bible study just finished Matthew 24, so this has been on my mind alot, but boy, its just very unsettling! Please pray for all of us here in Reno.

Just heard on the news that scientists are extremely concerned over so many earthquakes and after shocks in the midwest lately. They think somethings up folks.

I'm so sorry for you all Terry!! Yes, I will be more than happy to pray for you. We've been reading about these unusual earthquakes you're having and also the ones in Indiana. I've been following the quakes for some time now and this appears unusual. We had a 4.5 a couple of years ago here in East Tennessee on the border with North Carolina (five miles from my house). It was strange because I had never experienced an earthquake before and first thought it was thunder but it just kept on until all the doors and windows were rattling loudly. And to think you left all that misery behind in California.:tsk I will sure be praying for you and you might want to start a prayer thread in the prayers category. :hug:pray:pray By the way, welcome to Rapture Ready!!

Reno's not considered part of the Midwest. Are the scientists specifically concerned about the Midwest, or just all the recent activity in Reno and Southern Illinois in the last couple weeks?
