Okay, here goes nothing.
I like butter, the REAL thing. I do not own a butter dish yet. All my dishes are plain white, no patterns or anything.
I was looking at new and used butter dishes online. Everything on eBay is too much, or ugly. I think I'm gonna give up on that!
Does anyone have any ideas for unconventional butter dishes?
My husband said a safe, but I don't think I like butter that much. Even if it's the real thing or made on a farm.
I was hoping, if I can find something I like, that I could use it as an inspiration for any future pieces I may get.

I've never purchased a butter dish, but I was thinking maybe you could try looking at your local Goodwill or other thrift stores (or possibly a flea market).

Get one of those butter dishes that you put ice in the bottom of and leave out all the time so the butter stays cool but soft for up to 30 days and just change the water out for more ice a couple of times a week.
here's something called a butter bell -

Rinji, I have plain white dishes, Fiesta, (with lead-free glaze), and I ordered a sunny yellow butter dish that I love. :) Their link is www.homerlaughlin.com

I keep my butter out all the time with no ice. It lasts for weeks.
I have mine in a green fiesta ware dish.
Goodwill and thrift stores always have a huge selection of housewares.

I went to an antique store and found an old glass one that is yellow, I love it, I only put one stick in it at a time then I leave it out, have had no problems at all. It was not expensive I think I paid 10 dollars for it. So go browse around in thrift stores or antique stores until you find the one you love! I like old unique things, old bottles, old kitchen things, :)

i'm a hack
i keep mine in a shallow square plastic gladware thingie. i hate the single stick butter dishes cause there's not enough room to put in another stick when the other is almost gone. so if you wait till one is all gone to put in the other you got hard butter when you need squishy butter. its the only way i have found to get around things. and i have a hubby who gets toast crumbs all over the place, so with the ugly plastic container i have room to scrape the butter clean....:lol2

I've had this same kind of butter dish for 13 years now. I love it because it holds two sticks of butter at a time. Plus it's nice and deep, you can pop it into the microwave to soften it or even melt it. This dish is only $5.99 plus shipping. :)
