Well as much as I love spring .... It is that time for me to start with the spring cleaning. It feels so great to open windows and start getting things aired and cleaned, I woke up this morning and as badly as I wanted to go plant grass and putz outside. I spent the day cleaning, I bathed and clipped all 4 dogs, washed dog beds, shampooed the carpets.Washed rugs and curtains and blankets!! Still have far to go but it is a great start !!! Anyone else tackling the spring cleaning ? I used a homemade carpet shampoo I found on line and it worked good and cost me nothing :yeah I had the stuff. Vinegar, laundry soap, house smells clean and like a salad too !!!:aha

I hate spring cleaning, but I've been doing it anyway. It used to be that when I started working on anything, I just couldn't rest until it was all done. I have changed dramatically and have come to the conclusion that I've caught the laziness bug and I fear there is no cure. A couple weeks ago I started pulling things out, sorting through them, throwing some stuff away, and reorganizing. The problem I have is that I get all gungho and pull things out of closets, cabinets and drawers and make an awful mess. Then the dust sets off my allergies and my back starts aching and it takes me days to clean and organize everything. I probably wouldn't hate the job nearly as much if I could and would tackle one thing at a time and stick to it until I'm done. I need some discipline.

I just googled it, there were several reciepes listed but all pretty much the same thing, So I just thought I would give it a try since I had no carpet shampoo and didn't want to run to town and buy some. I know that the one calling for dish soap sounded to soapy, but laundry soap doesn't suds as much. If I would have had the home made laundry soap that would have been best since alot of them called for Borax, Water, Vinagar. Soap. Mine came out great!! I will use it again in the future and not buy shampoo !! it gets expensive. The best thing about spring cleaning ....... waking up this morning to a clean house :yeah !!! I love a clean house. My carpets are so soft and spotless and after winter with all the tracking of snow and mud they needed a good cleaning

Same here. :tsk However the Lord has blessed me with a dd that loves it. :scratch She did not get those genes from me. :heh :whistle She is only 7 years old but is like a busy bee around here. She found my old (and rather dusty :heh ) Flylady cleaning lists and has had a blast doing things on the list and then crossing them off.

I think there is sumpin' wrong with that child. :kay

There was a time when I was a clean freak, but I drove my family and myself a little crazy with my obsession with neatness. It didn't matter if someone else cleaned something, I always came in behind the cleaner and "made it better." I love having a neat, clean house, but I have a hard time with cleaning. It's so hard for me to clean a room without losing all perspective. I decide I'll wipe down all the counters in the kitchen and , hours later, my husband walks through the door to find the contents of all the cabinets and pantry all over the kitchen as I'm giving everything a thorough scrubbing. He's hungry and I can't even find the stove or the kitchen table. I need to learn how to set parameters and a time limit for the work I'm going to do. I need to decide that today I'll empty and clean two cabinets and I'll give myself two hours. I need to set a timer and budget my time accordingly so that I have time for other things that are important, like feeding my husband and giving him my undivided attention at the end of his work day. See, I know this in my head. Implementing it in my life is another thing.
