..I'm on a HS board and people that were supposed to get them today haven't yet. I'm not sure how you know when you are supposed to get them, apparently it goes by your SSN. We diddn't opt for direct deposit so I know it will take a while for ours.

I did direct deposit and filed my return on January 15th and I was supposed to receive mine today. Was going to go out and buy food, supplies, and necessities and guess what. I called my bank 3 times and NOTHING. Something tells me this is going to be another huge mistake by the IRS.

Just because it was sent from the IRS today does not mean it will show up in your account today. It may not show up until tomorrow.

BREAKING: (Royters) Due to poll results showing a large segment of the population determined to use the stimulous package money for other than new purchases; e.g. pay down debt, the IRS, under immediate instruction from the Whitehouse has changed it's mind and cancelled the "tax rebate" since there really wasn't anything there to return anyway.
I'd post a link, but since I just made this up, I can't.

Should have used the article from Faux News instead of Royters.

No, but if you don't have direct deposit it should come in the mail by the end of next week if your one of the first to get it.

Did you go through a third party, or did someone else do your taxes? If HR & Block, or someone else did and sent in your taxes it will be sent directly to them. You will have to get your money from them. It will come from their financial institution. The IRS will be sending your rebate to the 3rd party who did your taxes and sent them in. Just in case you did that deal. If so I would call the company who did your taxes. Just to make sure. According to the HR Block there isn't supposed to be a handling fee, no one should be taking your money. But I'm sure some group out there will.
