All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.
What sort of truth do you think you think you'd be missing if you weren't humble and trembling over God's words?

You're avatar says it all..."Praise the Lord!" He is worthy to be praised and loved and served and worsipped and gloried in! He in and of himself is the gift! He is the gem in the field that causes us to "sell all we have" in order that we might buy the field and redeem the gem. No wonder Paul could say, "I count all this as lost in order that I may gain Christ more." That's great stuff! I fear though, a lot, albeit, most of his chldren, do not know him as he is, but instead know of him. And, in not knowing him as he is, fall short in their worship experiences, because they arent worshipping Him as he is, but worshipping him as they "think" or "feel" or "believe" he is.

DH and I read through Numbers 16 the other night where the folks wandering in the desert were grumbling about Moses and Aaron getting to do all the holy stuff, and they all felt jilted. But then Lord had the earth open to gobble them up, and burned them with fire from their own censors... we were pretty taken aback. And to know that this is the same God that we worship today and will for all eternity kinda makes my stomach drop in awe.
I tremble when I'm preparing for Kids Church.

Praise God! Its good to have a fearful delight in God, as the Psalms delcare. Check out Nahum 1:2-6
The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD is avenging and wrathful; the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers. The mountains quake before him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him.
That same awesome and Almight God died for us. Who can make a charge and say he did love us? Who can make a change anyway.. NO one according do Dan. 4:34-35

I do tremble, and it is ironic: I found this verse in Isaiah after many months of trembling. Just read the very end of Isaiah, and you will tremble as well. I still tremble!

Yes, it is good to be humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at His word and before a Holy God!

I'm in awe and tremble when I read these words.
Is 40:12 ¶ Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, And marked off the heavens by the span, And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure, And weighed the mountains in a balance And the hills in a pair of scales?
Is 40:13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, Or as His counselor has informed Him?
Is 40:14 With whom did He consult and {who} gave Him understanding? And {who} taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge And informed Him of the way of understanding?
Is 40:15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the islands like fine dust.
Is 40:16 Even Lebanon is not enough to burn, Nor its beasts enough for a burnt offering.
Is 40:17 All the nations are as nothing before Him, They are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless.
Is 40:18 ¶ To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him?
NASB
Talk about feeling humble and so small. When I think that my problems are so huge... this verse shakes me down a notch or two into right thinking.

Acts 17
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
29"Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. 30In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."
I spent 20 years of my Christian life being sorry before God. My relationship with God began when I saw myself truely as I was before a mighty and just God. I shuddered in fear and fell before Him -- broken in spirit and with a most humble heart. God replaced my old heart with a heart that is like a well springing with devotion, love, admiration, repentance, and sacrifice. The source is not (nor ever could be) myself -- but 100% God.
I look at the years that I lived which I honestly thought of myself as a Christian and it is like night and day to my life now. Thanks be to God for giving me the fear of the Lord which resulted in repentance and salvation!
