I just came from the little store on the corner by my house and the clerk is telling everyone that this Friday May 2nd is "Don't Buy Gas Day". :thinking

Has anyone heard this anywhere else? :idunno
That would be nice, but I don't know that just one day would do anything.

I have heard that the beginning of next month that the truckers are going to stop delivering, so that the government sees how important they are....they are really having a hard time keeping up with the diesal increases....I feel so badly for them...without them...we would all be in trouble...

hmmm... a one day strike for truckers.

if we don't buy gas one day, we'll just have to get that day's gas the next day :idunno

Truckers are in a bad situation. It would take at least a 3 to 5 day vacation/strike to make an impact. Problem is, most can't afford to shut down that long. And most don't want to further hurt already struggling families as if enough would/could do it, it would devastate this economy further.

IMHO, it would take more than a day's don't-buy-gas strike as well. And the majority can't do that. Already struggling and not going to work for a day or three or five to make a point won't sit well with most.

Such a sad situation. Somethin's gotta give. I don't know what the answer is. Only God knows.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus! :pray

If the corporate trucking companies don't join the strike it will have little effect except drive up the prices of everything for us. If the corporate truckers join in 3 days this country will grind to a halt. The grocery stores and most retail chains operate on a 3 day supply. My brother in law is a trucker and we have talked about this many times.

My hubby has his own bread route, and owns his own truck. Gas is killing him. It gets worse every week. Don't know what he'll do if this continues.:ohno

Europe's largest oil company said its average selling price of crude oil leaped by 66 percent to more than $90 per barrel from the first quarter a year ago.

That sent net profit soaring to a record $9.08 billion, up from $7.28 billion. Sales rose 55 percent to $114 billion.

Analysts said the performance was impressive, especially because expectations were already high.........

My Dh works for Gordon Food Service and they are taking a hit because the truckers are talking strike. He's actually what's called a selecter in which he makes sure the food gets properly on the trucks for delivery and he would be out of a job if anything happens with the truckers. I'm praying this gets resolved as we wouldn't make it on my income. I stay home with our 3 and babysit for 2. There's got to be a way to put a cap on gas prices or not tax or something. These companies posting record profits yet again should be ASHAMED!!:tsk

It's amazing, isn't it?

Yet...nothing is done. I guess that is what we call "free markets", but I'm starting to think that at this pace of billions and billions in profits, while the consumer suffers, something needs to happen.

This country cannot keep going like this. People will not be able to afford to go to work.
