Well, I loaded sp3 from the MSDN site this morning, and it installed w/o a hitch. Took about 30minutes on my DuoCore 2Gig, and has been running w/o any issues. No software conflicts, and it does seem like the reported 10% performance increase was kept in the final cut (beta release reported a 10-15% performance increase in the benchmark). Just thought I'd let ya'll know...

Where did you download it? All i found was an overview.

OK, I found it and installed it on my laptop. Apparently, there is still an error that only occurs in laptops. After installing, I restarted my computer and got the BSOD. I got the same thing when I tried to boot in safe mode.
After some searching, I found the fix for it.

If you install this on a laptop, you will have to do this.
Install Service Pack 3 then put your Windows disc in the cd rom drive (any xp disc will work). Boot from the cd. After it loads all the files needed for booting it will give you the option to continue with an installation, repair or quit. Chose repair.
It will ask you to chose your windows install. Most likely, it will be 1.
Hit enter and it will ask for the administrator password. If you haven't set one, then hit enter.
It will show "<C:\WINDOWS\>"
Enter this (without quotes) "copy c:\windows\servicepackfiles\gdi32.dll c:\windows\system32\"
It will ask if you want to replace the file. Type y and hit enter.
Type exit and take out the disc when the screen goes black.
Your computer should restart normally.

I installed a RC a couple of weeks back. The install crashed and left the machine unbootable, unable to restore or repair. I had to do a reinstall. Not impressed.

Luckily this time I remembered to take an image after reinstalling. Windows is such a major hassle to get from a base install to a usable system. Don't intend to put myself through that if I don't have to.

Is SP3 final released yet? I'm figuring I was just unlucky, and might give it another go (even though the RC was probably identical to the final version)

I searched up the info in the BSOD message and that saved me from a total reinstall.

Installed it on my step-dads desktop. Had the same problem. He didn't know the admin password. Ended up taking out the hdd and attaching it to my pc with a usb to ide adapter. It works now.
