I had to share with you all the experience I just had! I was taking advantage of a break in the Seattle rain and mowing my lawn. Half way through, the mower stopped working. I prayed and asked the Lord for a way to get the lawn finished, knowing it will take about three weeks for my mower to get repaired. I left the mower sitting in the middle of the lawn and started working on weeding the garden. Once, I went and tried to restart the mower, hoping that the problem might have been heat buildup (yes, I checked the gas as soon as it died, it was almost full). It started, but immediately died again. I finished the work I'd planned to do in the garden, tried to start the mower one more time, and then put it into the garage.
While I was working in the garden, I saw my neighbor leave in his car. I'd been hoping he would have come out and noticed the lawn mower sitting in the half-mowed lawn and offered his, but he didn't. I was feeling a little upset, and chiding myself on how ridiculous it was to feel upset. Rather than feel sorry for myself because the mower still didn't work, I made the choice to praise the Lord for His goodness. After all, He does so much for me, blesses me so tremendously, how could I possibly be upset about something so little?
Literally with minutes of changing my attitude, my neighbor returned. He came over and we struck up a conversation. He not only offered the use of his lawn mower, he helped me get mine into my car so I could take it in immediately rather than waiting until my husband got home from work. Then, after I finished mowing my lawn, we began talking about writing. When he heard that I write fiction, he asked me if I'd read one of my short stories on his weekly internet radio show!
I was worried about getting my lawn mowed. God has so much more in mind. Not only is my lawned nicely mowed, I have an opportunity to get some of my writing out there where the public can hear it.
It's so great to serve a God who cares about the little things in life! :yeah
