Wow, I have to admit it's pretty scary! I hadn't been watching the news for the past 24 hours or so, and suddenly I see that the government of Myanmar is predicting at least 13,000 dead. :shocked I can't believe it. Then I read about the volcano in Chile -- I thought that was over with, but apparently a whole new town has been evacuated. This volcano hasn't erupted in thousands of years and they were describing the "enormous mushroom cloud."
I was watching our local news tonight, and one newscaster said, "What's next, a major earthquake?" The other guy said, "Hey, that's not even funny...!"
On a bit of a smaller scale, I'm reading about deadly tidal waves and forest fires and droughts. That's not even counting things like rice shortages, virus pandemics, protests and wars/fighting.
Methinks that things are going to get worse... I don't see how people can look at all of this "stuff" that is happening in such a short amount of time and not see it as Biblical prophecy.
Time to work harder to spread the word!!!! :preach

Amen to that. Amen to that.
Also have to remember to see what is going on in the Middle East. Don't forget that Israel is in the center of prophecy. We know for sure that we must be going home soon.

I was talking to my sister about this and she said, what was the death toll with the major tsunami? I told her it wasn't nearly this high and THAT was unimaginable. I can't even imagine what the death toll from this is going to be like. I hate to think it, but it's going to reach way over what they predict.

If I remember correctly, the death toll for the 2004 tsunami ended up being over 200,000.

How about an earthquake in Virginia! This afternoon around 1:30 p.m. our condo building started shaking and you could hear a rumbling noise while it was happening. Because it only last a few seconds I just assumed there was some blasting going on as there's always construction going on in this area. Imagine my surprise to find out on last night's evening news that it was a 1.8 magnitude earthquake. Actually, back in Dec. 2003 there was a 4.2 magnitude quake with an epicenter in Richmond that we also felt. I knew that one was an earthquake because it lasted a couple of minutes and the china in my cabinet was clanking. Scary times we're living in.

Wikipedia has the death toll for the big tsunami at roughly 350,000. That is way worse than this Myanmar tragedy.

I didn't know the 04 tsunami death toll was that high. The last I remember it was about 270.000.
350,000 people dead from that is unbelievable and scary.

... so far
I'm pretty sure they won't have a final tally for a while. Many people are missing... and over a million homes were destroyed.
