With the news I have seen about possible fuel costing $5.00 + a gallon in the next 6-24 months. How would that affect us as a nation. It seems there are changes already. I sell autos for a living and people are absolutely banging the door down to get out of these suvs they bought when fuel was $1.60. Many of them can not get out of them as they are upside down. We have sold 8 small cars to suv drivers here this week alone. I am buried in used trucks and suvs have huge markdowns on trucks but people are not looking at them. I do not blame them.

What about airlines at $5 or $7?
Automakers?

I think this is a very serious threat to our way of life here as we know it here in the US. Reminds me of that movie Oil Storm

I wonder also, I know it already has and is affecting alot of people, But I also know alot of people that are in the midst of planning thier vacations and going about as if it is no big deal to them, I know since I drive alot of miles on a daily basis it has me wondering what I will do when it hits 5. I think we will see more and more credit woes since people will start to use the credit cards to buy gas to get to work, then they will end paying the interest on the cards, I am thankful I drive a small car that gets 30 to a gallon. But already I have changed my driving habits and do several errands all at one time. I know my hopes of driving to CA this summer for a beach trip is looking doubtful.

I just read a synopsis from the 2005 FX movie oil storm. At the time fuel was around $2.00 gallon and at the early stages of this movie fuel shot up to the mid $3.00 range where we are at today. After these hurricanes and a tanker disaster in a shipping lane fuel went to $7.00 gallon. Not a pretty site. Curious we will soon see Israel 60th anniversary....Amadinejahad is convinced his Mahdi is comming soon.....Hamahas a couple of weeks ago made overtures of a peace treaty with a defined time line of 10 years for the first time in 60 year conflict. WOW what a time to be alive and looking for the Lord to call His church home.

We were just discussing this here at work. On a side note to add just read over on DRUDGE that Iran according to Israel will have nukes the end of this year.

$5.00 gas is bad for individuals, families, and our nation. We are spoiled. We want everything and want it now. We think we are entitled to cheap gas.

We are a country/world at war. In a wartime situation I feel we all have to do our part and one of those with this war is a higher gas price. If that was the only reason for high gas prices I could accept it. BUT I do not feel we are a nation coming together to win this war together. We could be drilling in Alaska and North Dakota for oil to help off-set the high oil price. This would get us through this period until we find adequate and sufficient alternative fuels to support our way of life. Until we find that alternative fuel our way of life will be affected and we have to either accept it or do something about it. I hope the American people will choose to come together and do something about it. I think congress is dragging their feet because they do not want to do anything that may make President Bush look good. Too much politics!

* Contact your congressman and tell him to start drilling our own oil sources.
* Vote for Freedom in this coming election and hold our government accountable.
* Put politics aside and work united.

Their is an unknown as of yet upper limit to how high energy prices can go before things like your comment become reality.

While our government looks the other way, our country is facing a crisis that threatens us with impoverisation of the nation, the disappearance of our way of life, the crumbling of our socioeconomic and political system into what will likely be some form of chaos as people starve, crime becomes rampant, and there is no will among the general population other than to survive.

I wish George W. would declare a national emergency and throw everything we have into developing the energy resources that we have, while spending whatever it takes to create new alternative energy sources that are economical and that will unburden us from the oil cartels of the world.

I live in TC, Michigan.. and right now gas prices (just for regular) are $3.70 a gallon... They are continuously going up daily weather it's just a cent or two. What I am really worried about is what's going to happen around 4th of July time... gas ALWAYS goes up atleast .50 or more. I have a feeling we will be seeing close to $5.00 a gallon if not $5 itself.:fear

It was yesterday the pundits off energy were saying $5.00 for fuel in 2 years. It was today that I heard it could be in 6 months......As I shared what is on DRUDGE at this time Iran will have weapons grade the end of this year (6 months) If there were a conflict with Iran because of this could that cause fuel to go to $5.00 if Israel and her allies confront Iran because of it nuclear program. My goodness I pray for the people on oil for heat......this winter.

Edit to add that apparently the clerics have I guess rebuked ahamidnejahad (the guy running the country) went further than ever on govt sponsored TV to state that the hidden Imam is already directing the nations policy......

If I want to get to work, I don't have a choice but to drive. I live 10 miles outside of town. It's a very rural area. Alot of Americans are in that same boat.
