I have a question for everyone, I work in a church library and I just notice how much more Christians are reading fiction (not to be legalistic) than bible studies......Is this a growing trend in your church?

Considering what passes these days for Christian literature, I can't say that I blame them. The Bible is fast loosing its influence on Christians who would rather read nonsense created by some psycho-christian. I say get back to the bible and read some of the great Christian works from long ago. Stay away from anything modern unless you are given a recommendation that you can trust. The latest nonsense that I heard about is called "The New Normal." It's about how the things that happen in our lives become our "new normal." Last I checked, it's always been called just "life" which happens the moment we are born. That's an example of garbage, in my opinion.

It says in the Bible that in the end times peeps will be into entertainment instead of the truth.

Those are good choices. I guess, I should have been more clear, I meant like Christian romance and such..People at my church go hog wild over them.

Oh, I gotcha.
Yeah, I'm sure there are many christians more interested in reading christian fiction and books about christianity than actually reading the Word. I used to be like that, but I've learned it doesn't do much for maturing in Christ. Supplements here and there are nice.

They're good as supplements and for recreational reading, but obviously, they're no substitude for reading the Bible itself.

Oh thanks I will.
I was just wondering if is because of no biblical literacy or Christians becoming apathetic

Myself and another lady are librarians at our church. The majority of books that we receive as donations to our library are 'Christian Fiction'.
We have a MUCH smaller section of Christian living books, devotionals, teaching tapes,cd's and Dvd's. I personally have been reading non-fiction, more often.
Some have said that if our books aren't read much they are to be moved on (and out). I'm not about to do that, at least not with the non-fiction section. I think there is where our life as a Christian is going to be enriched, not in the fiction section. Besides, I find I need to take my time reading Christian living books, to be able to digest what the author is trying to say.
