Big surprise at my husband's work today....they just layed(sp?) off one person from each area at his work!! A good worker and friend of my husband was one of them...Told him that he could transfer to Georgia, Texas or Cali... He has a family....he can't just pack up and leave! He has an elderly mother....poor guy....please :pray for all these people....could you imagine being layed off with the economy the way it is? my husband is the supervisor @ his building and one of the few who knows what is going on there....but it can still happen to even him....please :pray for him too...he's not so worried because a lot of companies have asked him to work for them, but would they pay him what he is getting now? I just don't know...:tsk ...but I'm not going to worry about it....God is in control! :thumb

I can sympathize. A "down-size" team from Corporate visited my husband's place of employment and they have recommended a cut of 30% or so of all salaried employees (that would include my husband).
Ugh. This has happened to us before...If it happens again, I don't know how it will work out. I know God will take care of us - He always has.
But it may mean severe life changes (like moving in with my parents!!!!) They have a tiny house, so it would be very different...I guess we'll see what happens. Hopefully he won't be cut.

... could you imagine being layed off with the economy the way it is? my husband is the supervisor @ his building and one of the few who knows what is going on there....but it can still happen to even him.... ummm ... yes. No imagination needed. I was a dept. manager for 11 years and over a period of 2 years had to lay off folks. It is very hard to do. Then I was laid off ...... 6 years ago come August. No permanent work since. I can tell you that trusting the Lord is a joy and at the same time, now and then, scary. But, He is faithful. There is absolutely no natural reason for me to still have a house. The fact that we do is very supernatural. I hope your husband does not lose his job. If he does, I hope he finds work. If he does, I hope it is adequate.
No matter what though, we can rejoice in our Lord ...... even if at times it seems .... and it is only seems, to have forgotten. Know that He hasn't should it come to that and rejoice anyway.
Habakkuk 3:
17 *Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 *Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 *The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.

Be sure to get him to file for unemployment immediately. It'll help bring in a little money until he finds something.

You can thank liberal democrats & clueless politicians for the offshoring of jobs. NAFTA basically gave incentive for companies to move elsewhere. Go figure, so Toyota, Nissan, BMW have big incentives to build plants in the US cornfields but US auto companies ship all their jobs out of the US. What idiots! :doh
It infuriates me to no end to hear of the constant downsizings or layoffs. I feel for your husband but he is not alone.
All the good paying jobs have evaporated. All that is left are low paying service jobs and high tech. Even if you are a high tech worker forget it. Every company wants to hire a new grad or someone with 3-5 yrs exp. Anyone with over 8 years of exp is not desirable anymore as they make too much money. It happened to me. I peaked out at the 8 yr mark in what I do and no companies wanted me anymore. All of them said, "overqualified". All I could find were no benefit contract hourly jobs that offered no stability at all.
Yes this is a faith thing. Gotta trust that the Lord is not dependent on mans system of work and jobs. We can be provided for. I am living by faith daily, it makes me get to my knees and ask that He give me more faith because daily I doubt and fear.

You can also thank the govt. for having the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. Companies are leaving the US for countries that won't over tax them. If the US govt. would get it through their thick skulls that when you lower taxes companies want to do business with you.
