First, it was lead in Chinese made toys. Then, it was plastic in Chinese made pet food. Now, more lead is being discovered in Chinese made products, but this time it's something that goes in your mouth.

Dimaria knows of another case where lab workers found that a Chinese implant was contaminated with fecal bacteria.

How do the Chinese get feces into our dental work?

Well, I was raised in a dental family. Our parents ran their dental office for 35 years, I worked there too, and for years in the dental field with other doctors from ortho to oral surgery...and I can tell you, I never heard of sending your work to China to have crowns made? My brother is still a dental tech and he makes all his product. :scratch Dentists send this work to local lab technicians, if you don't have your own in house tech. This lab tech the office uses is his account, they don't just send cases willy nilly to anyone.

"There are laboratories sending implant work to China to be done. I believe that is happening. Do I have any record of it? No," said Dimaria.

I would guess this is the exception and definitely not the rule. The dentists build report with their techs, they can tell if they have someone else doing their work for them, it is really an art form. I would simply ask my dentist who his lab person is, and how long he's used him, etc. if you are really concerned. But again...I highly doubt China is the main lab used for dentists or technicians in the US.

Dental fillings used to be available only in amalgam, which is 40% mercury mixed with powders of other metals. Some people had all their old dental work removed and replaced with non-toxic fillings that are more commonly used today because there was concern this could be part of the cause for immune deficiency disorders, such as Lupus.

The dentists I worked for only used local labs that made the crowns and dentures. Dentists are very picky who they use to do their work. What kind of dental office sends there impressions to China??? Very weird. Also Like Biblenuggetlady said there is very little amalgam used anymore because of the mercury, now it's composites.
