El Hubbo le fantastico has been paying attention to my sewing crazy-making!
And prolly my hissy fits fussing at the bobbin...

Anyway, last night he told me to pick out the new sewing machine I wanted! No price cap or anything like that. He said we might not be able to afford it right off, but he wanted to know what my dream machine would be!
*swoon*

Now, I need advice and tips! My sewing life has been limited to machines Methusalahs wife used back in high school (home ec 4 years whoot) and currently I'm using a Singer my MIL picked up at a garage sale for 3$ :yay
only, I sew A LOT and the poor thing is like over heating and made of plastic pieces and the bobbin cradle HATES me. I take it apart and clean/oil it like I'm supposed to, but I am clearly over working the poor beast.

So since my dahhhhlink husband is willing to support this crafty side of me, and I am getting hip deep into quilting, embroidering and sewing the kids clothes (going to attempt a shirt for me today Eep!) I need some more experienced advice on what machine would suit my needs best.

help? :hehee

Way to go!! :yay Do you do the quilting on machine, or just the piecing?

well, I do all the piecing, and I used a very light loft. I've only done one quilt, but am wanting to do more. I'd like to do the whole shebang on the machine though :hehee

wanna see?

Lovely! You've got ready-made quilting lines to follow with the fence pattern. :heh

The top names I've heard of for quilting is Husqvarna (sp) and Janome. I know the Huskies have machines that also have the programmable embroidery stuff. Both brands have a various range of models and prices.

Bobbins are easy. You open the case, drop in the bobbin and pull the thread around to the right and you are done. The machine has lots of quilting features and you can do free arm with it as well. It is basically a computer with a needle. You can connect it with a computer for updates and new stitches and it is a touch screen. No dials, no knobs, nothing. You tell it what type of fabric you are sewing on, what stitch you want to use and the machine sets it automatically. You can even sew on leather with this thing. OH! And it is an embroidery machine as well. I do beautiful embroidery with it that looks factory done. It is such an easy machine that you will want to sew more and more. Did I miss anything? Oh it even has an instruction manual and problem shooting on the machine that is all touch screen.
