It gets very hot here, especially in July & August. So this summer my friend Valerie and I are going to distribute ice cold water to people as we cruise around town in her car. We're calling it our "Living Waters" ministry. :)

Homeless folks, the elderly, mothers with children, or anyone who simply looks parched from the heat will receive a bottle. Val and I will use the occassion to strike up conversations about Jesus. I'm also going to print out labels with a salvation scripture for the bottles.

There's always a good sale on 24/case water bottles so why not take advantage! :)

Just a suggestion for those of you who, like me, are short on money but long on the desire to spread the Gospel! :thumb

You're welcome my friend! :hug

Great idea to bring your daughter ..... Val is going to bring her son as well. :thumb

The neat thing about this is that we'll be meeting the physical needs of people before sharing Christ with them. Much easier than walking up to folks and passing out tracts, which can make them uneasy. ;)

John 4:14 "but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." I love the scripture of the women at the well!!!

made me think of And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward. Matt 10:42 to encourage you women :)

This method works very well. I am the outreach leader for a ministry called Church-In-Action in Denver, CO, and we just had a local outreach mission in a low-income (public housing/homeless) area, and all we did was go around and give people ice cold water which "broke the ice," and from the reports I have, not one person rejected the volunteer that handed them water and we were able to speak and pray with them about Christ and the true meaning of repentance. I am not at all responsible for this success, nor is the ministry. We just let the Holy Spirit work as we were obedient to the call of the Gospel. Time is short brothers and sister, and WE must obey the Masters call to fulfill the Great Commission. Go tell someone about Jesus!

Good suggestions. Also, you can even use a rubber band to attach the tract to the bottle of water around the middle (or hand it to them separately), whichever you prefer. I think it's wonderful that you are doing this ministry. Planting gospel seeds that will be watered, and God will give the increase. We can trust that, because that's what He said. :)
Each Monday morning, I have the opportunity to share the gospel with young women, and I like to use the LivingWaters.com tract called, "Are You Good Enough to Go to Heaven?" You'd be surprised to hear how many people think they are ('good enough')
