Please Friends, I need your help, advice, instruction, prayer, anything that you can do. I'm over my head in witnessing to a JW man. I've been trying to gain some knowledge on links that I've found here on RR.
I'm starting out not knowing very much at all about the JW religion. I'm on a crash course. There is so much, I don't know how to break it down.
I've had some conversations with "Tom". It's like talking to someone from another planet.
This I know about him: His grandparents were JWs and so is his mother and sister. He grew up without a father. He was taught this religion from childhood on. He is backslidden and has been for many years. He believes however that he knows the "truth".
I've been praying hard for him for about 5 months. I feel like when we talk that he's not getting any of what I say. He usually ends up wanting me to read the JW publications, "Since I'm curious" is how he puts it. I used some material directly from the web tonight. Finally, he just warned me about reading "apostate" writings, it comes directly from Satan. He seems determined NOT to read anything that isn't JW approved.
My questions: When do you know when to stop trying to help someone, or do you ever stop? This is extremely difficult for me. My head gets over loaded so easy. How do you know if God is bringing you to witnessing or rather if the enemy is trying to get to you instead. Do I stop with the conversations, and just pray? Some things seem so clear to me like the nose on my face, but he doesn't get it. (Like tonight I tried to point out JW false prophecies.)
I have done some serious praying about this, but I just don't know what to do. :scratch Please help. Thanks.

If the Lord lays them on your heart, pray for them as many times, but as far as continually witnessing or disputing the Scriptures, go with this:
Titus 3:10-11 -
10. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11. Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

twinkle, did you read this (http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=42778) thread? Lots of sound advice in there on this very subject.
Stop taking his JW propaganda, it's not about whether you read it or not, but rather, he gets points for every piece he gives out....think of it like allowing the cult hooks to sink deeper into his flesh by every piece of paper you take from him. :hug

When it comes to JWs you have to pray hard.
Eventually your witness becomes pearls before swine. I find God often removes the burden from your heart when you reach that point. The Titus reference is a benchmark too.
The best withess to a JW is their own literature. If you have insight mark the errors in thier literature and answer only with Bible verses.
The best witness is their old watchtowers. You need to copy and show them their own false prophecies. Sadly if they do not respond to such obvious truth then you need to move on and find fields that can be harvested.
Be mindful, in the last days, most will not receive truth and sound doctrine.
But do not be discouraged, Jesus already told us, So we should be looking up.

One of the best sermons I ever heard on this was by Chuck Missler. He was addressing the JW's belief that Jesus was/is not God and he used the witnesses' own translation of the Bible to point out that they were wrong. I wish I could tell you exactly which sermon it is; I'm almost certain it can be found on his website listed above. I did make notes and while I can't deliver this like Chuck can I thought you might get something out of it. Here's my best effort:
First, ask them to turn in their Bibles to Isaiah 41:4. Ask them to read the scripture and then ask them "Who is that speaking?". They will answer "why it's Jehovah God." Agree with them and then ask them to turn to Isaiah 44:6 and repeat the whole process. Follow this with Isaiah 48:12, Rev. 1:8, and Rev. 21:6 repeating the question each time. By this time they ought to be getting a little impatient and aggravated so tell them you just have one more scripture and ask them to turn to Rev. 2:8. This last scripture identifies their Jehovah God as one who was dead is now alive. Since they believe Jesus is merely Michael the Archangel in the flesh, they will be forced to identify Michael as Jehovah God or Jehovah God as Jesus. Checkmate!

Thank you. This helps a lot! I think that God was telling me to let it go, last night after that last conversation. I felt down hearted about it and was trying to make sure before I did let it go.
The last thing I said to him, (and I hope I didn't do wrong) was, "You will stand before God one day, all by yourself; and let me tell you that Watchtower will not be there. You will have no excuse." I felt physically sick about it all.

Actually, I did read this thread. I used some of Buzzardhut's posts and links. The reason I was unsure about it all, was a post that said that you have a chance with the new converts, and the backsliden.
I knew better than to accept the publications, so I didn't.
Thank you for your help. :hug

Unfortunately, I think that I'm at the pearl before swine point. It's such a let down, I'm trying not to be discouraged. Thank you for your help. Your kind words mean a lot. :hug

When we cry for the lost, feel sick for the trapped, anguish for the lost,
it is a good thing.
It shows we have a heart of flesh - the one promised by God.
Continue in your efforts, you will be amazed where your bread floated and nurished.

Dear Miss Molly,
At the moment I am so tired spiritually. I may take this up again after I get some rest. Thank you for your good work in providing me the info. :hug I hadn't realized before now just how difficult it is to reach the JWs. It's so sad.
