Old gas pumps can't handle ever-rising prices

They'll just wind up recalibrating the pumps to charge by the liter rather than the gallon. Instead of 3.699 per gallon it will be .819 per liter. same price once you do the math.

Maybe we should do some drilling on our own land and LOWER the PRICES.

the gas station I use (mom/pop), put the price at 1/2 the $ per gallon, so you x2 for the total.
He said he was going broke on all the pump refurbishing he is having to do with all the different pumps he has (just 3). He is a nice old guy and is trying to keep himself and two of his sons and a few old friends with a paycheck, but I can tell that things are getting rough, people are stealing gas out of gas tanks in trucks they store for xtra money too.
