it frustrated me very much
its called "The prioress' tale" and i need some on to talk about it b/c my teacher was no help at all
it took place in the 1500's
it was about a 5 year old boy who heard some older boys singing a song in school (catholic, my teacher kept calling them christians) and he 'secretly' learned it, so he sang it every day as he went to and from school while passing through the "ghetto"(jewish part of town), it was in latin and pat of it meant "mary is jesus' nutruring mother" which somehow offended their religion. so they supposedly hired a murderer and he slit the boys throat and threw him in the sewer.
but in responce to that, the catholics (which again my teacher called christans:tsk), killed any jew who even knew of the crime.
but, the boy wasnt dead yet!
so the pope asked him why wasnt he daid and the boy said that mary put a wafer in his mouth so he could live as long as it was there and then the catholics kept singing the song the boy was singing while the jews were being killed
and then the pope killed the boy by "removing the wafer"
if you ask me this should NOT have been a class asignment and NOT be considered a martyr story even though its been considered on for centuries
now if youhave any martyr stories that are NOT like this one id like to hear them to try and get my mind off this one
