15,000 Tax checks sent to wrong people

Tried to copy and paste, but it is a video I caught on Yahoo news and I cant seem to get it. Computer glitch sent 15 thousand checks to the wrong people, Problem with the routing numbers it seem :doh. Our Feds at it again! Soooo if you were expecting a direct deposit and it it is missing.... Well who knows now ???? I guess they will cancel and resend them. They did not say what the next move was going to be.

Well, at least 15,000 is not so bad given they sent to millions...

not a very big percentage... probably better record than many mail-order sales companies :heh

Do these checks have sensitive information on them, like social security numbers?

IRS: Some stimulus checks sent to wrong accounts

Through the wonders of modern technology, some of those federal economic stimulus checks are being deposited directly into recipients' bank accounts.

But some are not - and are instead winding up in the bank accounts of complete strangers.

"We do know of instances of problems; we've heard of situations where stimulus checks have gone to the wrong people's bank accounts," conceded Kevin McKeon, the Internal Revenue Service spokesman for the New York region....

They are deposits, so the wrong party wouldn't see anything like SS#s.

These kind of deposits are quickly reversed - but I guess broadcasting problems in an alarmist manner justifies the medias existence.
