Radical Pro-Gay Theologian to Join Kay Warren, McLaren at Envison 08
“Sexuality and Faith - Explore what sexuality and ethics mean in light of faith and the call to love our neighbors as ourselves. Led by Miguel De La Torre.
–Envision 08 Conference website
Who is Miquel De La Torre
He’s called “the new face of gay-allied activism” by a gay newspaper. Here’s what it says about his work at Pridesource.com
“He’s straight. He’s a conservative Christian.
And he supports full civil rights, including marriage, for gays and lesbians.
De la Torre is a Southern Baptist minister and member of the Southern Baptist Convention…
De La Torre supports equal rights because of his reading of the Bible, not despite it.
“I find [anti-gay Christian theology] something that is imposed on the text by the culture, which I find offensive as a biblical scholar,” he said.

This is who Kay Warren will be partnering with at Envison 08, along with all the rest I have covered here at Slice.
Kay is scheduled to speak at the opening session on June 8 at 7pm.
The decision of the California Supreme Court announced today,
legalizing gay marriage in that state, was no doubt welcomed by Miguel de la Torre and the other emerging church leaders who will be featured at the conference.
