Love me some Princess Bride

My beloved and I entered matrimony at the Little White Wedding Chapel at a strip mall in Northeville Michigan almost 7 years ago.I wore a dress off the sale rack from the prom season I bought literally 2 hours before the event.

No one on my side could attend because I was rather impetuous, they were all 900+ miles away, and....I'm not really a formal gal anyway.

Himself started in saying he wanted to remarry me in my home town at the place I loved best, on our 7th anniversary. The old sawtooth saying of most marriages end or get in trouble with the 7 year itch, he wanted to recommit on that date just because he is a funny guy that way.

I told my mom about it since the place I loved best was and is, the family beach house. We were already getting it repainted in thanks for the family letting us live there during the moving chaos. It's shared between her and her siblings, so we kinda need to reserve that particular weekend......and that's when it started to be real to me.

Sweet Flying Monkeys! I need to plan a party/re-commitment wedding! Eep!

I already mentioned I'm not formal, so it should shock no one that I'm talking about planning an event that is less than 2 months away.

It will be smallish, mostly family and friends that are kinda family anyway. Though I should mention I come from a flippin HUGE southern family, so we are looking at 100 people easy. And that is just the family I see regular like.
My own mother is where I get my less that formal attitude from, so she is kinda hopeless in giving advice here (though she did cringe at me saying "why not a crawfish boil?")

I need help ladies. Like, I need BIG help*.

I have a pastor lined up, a man my husband and I just love to pieces, scripture drips offa him....and that is about it. I do not even know what questions I should be asking myself here. Like I know it's at the beach, so no formal clothing, you will likely be getting wet-if not intentionally, by the kids playing in the surf. My best friend works as a professional photographer, and one of her co workers I hope to get to do the photos so she can play with us.

I need guidance...I need assistance....I don't even have a clue as to what I should be taking care of outside of food. I genuinely was fine with a crawfish boil kinda thing...but mom is right, people are coming to a wedding of sorts, so I should make more effort than a Redneck Riviera BBQ. (thats not an insult, I love being a redneck and living in the redneck riviera land).

I have no clue, PLEASE help.

*Due to circumstance, and not lack of desire, my hubbo is not available to help, so I really am flying a 'todo' solo. ;)

It's your wedding, do it your way. If you want it casual than have it casual. If you want a redneck BBQ then have one. What kind of music do you want? what about drinks? Should you rent an outhouse for the occasion? 100 people and only one bathroom is not a good idea. :lol2

:pound you are so right!

There are two bathrooms, but still, one septic tank! :P

I know it sounds crazy, but ziedeco music does sound appropriate doesn't it? :aha

I do want it to mostly be a gathering of family and fun. We have not gotten together much since my granny passed 12 years ago. It used to be a thanksgiving reunion every year, but 12 years and so many are grown with their own families. We are separating because my granny glue is gone. Maybe I want to remember her by having this get together?

I don't even know what my way is really, I just show up and talk to people at these kind of things, never had to organize one :lol

It is very common for beach weddings to have the kind of food you are talking about. So do what you want! I do have suggestions for a beach wedding though. Have a tent or large umbrellas for those who want to get out of the sun. Have sun screen for guest who need it. Also have blankets for guest who may want one Theme colors for a beach wedding would be blue and green As far as food goes tropical fruit salad would be nice and also finger foods But watch out for seagulls :heh

Since it will be at the beach, I would have it casual and you could stick with the beach theme. Fruit served out of the rinds, I loved the boat idea !! For invitations .... I did this for my daughters 3 by the sea birthday party, I printed out the invitaions, I then burned the edges, wadded them up to make them look old and crinkled, I then rolled them up tied them with a ribbon and stuck them in a small bottle. ( This was the hardest part ... getting all the bottles I bought the small single serve wine coolers and dumped them out, they come in 6 packs ) The message inside said SOS SOS please help us celebrate .... They were a huge hit. Cake was served on frisbees. Go with the beach theme!!! Pig Roast,
And Congrats !!! How wonderfull it is to renew your vows.

Ohhh I like your ideas! The beach house is on stilts, so under the house is a regular 'get out of the sun' area, but a tent would be nice because I'm sure there will be an over flow seeking the shelter.

Seagulls and pelicans are all over :nod :aha

No pig roast, but yes to ice in a tin boat!

I wonder if I can find a smallish replica type one.......

Bottle invitations! That is brilliant!

Oh jeez....cake? I haven't even thought about cake LOL

Thank you

There are lots of pictures of cakes with beach themes online. I wish my husband and I lived closer, he could make you a wonderful sand castle cake with shells all around and in it. I love beach weddings!

Edited to add a photo of what I was talking about. I could just see the raised eyebrows over a sandcastle cake

Here are some more beach wedding cakes. I love having a husband that can make these LOL (he didn't make these cakes, but he can make cakes like these) He is catering a wedding in July that is very much like what you are looking for.

These ideas have been really neat. Call around near where you're ceremony is and try to find a caterer, etc. that can help you out. Especially one that makes cakes too...definitely will make life much easier for you.
I was fortuante with our wedding cake...my sister makes them and she did a beautiful one for us. We had a simple wedding too...ceremony at the church and the reception at our house. It was perfect!
I know of one wedding where the couple had flip flops for everyone to dance in so they woud be comfortable...I thought it was a great idea. Also since you'll have lots of kids there you could have little buckets with shovels, etc. so they can go and play in the sand...kites would be fun too:)
Have you thought about what you'll do if it rains?

I dont know if you were thinking about having centerpieces on tables or not but this is a real cheap and cute idea. Get those cheap little glass bowls they sell at Walmart and put water with blue food coloring and add shells and star fish at the bottom and put a floating candle on the top
