I was in a discussion with my mom who struggles with racial issues. I told her that I'm pretty sure interracial marriage is ok with God. She wanted to know where it states that in the bible. And she asked.. well, why did He create the different races then.
Can anyone give me some help on answering this? I would really appreciate it.. Thanks!!!!

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

I know that but I need to try and convey it to her. Any scripture to explain why God made the different races? Thanks for your help.

I don't believe there's definitive scripture for that. Perhaps in the genes of Adam and Eve. :idunno
But in reality, we are all one race (human race), just different skin tones.

my own belief is that adam and eve contained all the gene. remember the tower of babel, how God wanted the people to disperse but they didn't so he confused their language. So, when a group of people with the same language remain isolated from the other groups for a very long time they retain certain characteristics... there are genetics involved which i'm not an expert in but there are tons of books written about this...through a creationist point of view

When God looks at us, we are Jews, Gentiles, or the Church. The Bible tells us to not be unequally yoked-that is spiritually, meaning a believer with a non-believer. There is NO scripture that says that interracial marriages are a sin.

Does the Bible Forbid Interracial Marriages?
The Bible does not forbid interracial marriages. It does, however, forbid a Christian from marrying an unbeliever: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Cor. 6:14).
In Numbers 12:1-8 is an account of Moses marrying an Ethiopian woman. "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman" (Num. 12:1).
Other Bible verses translate this as "Cush." Cush is the ancient location of Ethiopia. Miriam and Aaron were upset with Moses because he married a Cushite woman. Cush has also been considered to be the northern part of Egypt. Either way, it is very possible that Cushite woman was of a different race. God defended Moses for marrying this woman. If race were an issue, this would have been a great place to set the matter straight.
Also, people of different races were not mentioned as being among those forbidden by God for Jews to marry, see Exodus 34:11.
