I was wondering what you all thought of Hillsong? Their music has helped me like nothing else, connect with God in a very intimate way. Their music moves me from tears to dancing. I find Darlene Zschech (best known for Shout to the Lord) to be a very sincere and anointed leader (however she is now a volunteer as part of the team.)
What do you think of their music? I know some find it too modern sounding.
What do you think of their church? It's another mega church but I don' know what the preaching is like.

I like a lot of their songs. And I'm 55! The "The rest of the story" is, should everything they sing be sung in a Sunday morning service. Maybe special or evening. Again I'm 55 and a tweener. One who is caught in two culture's of music. We grew up with secular rock music, never thought it would enter into worship at a Church. The dumbing down of music ( leaving out harmony without at least 4 parts) makes today's music "here today, gone to Maui". My view... sing enough songs to include the fifty through eighty years olds and the 20 to 40 years worship pastors with bring the WHOLE CHURCH back from this division up the middle of singing to our Awesome God an exciting blessed time together. We praise you Jesus!

Darlene Zschech is a worship "pastor". She has also had visions which are contrary to scripture. There is much Latter Day Rain influence to her ministry and also advocates interfaith ministry. (ecumenicism)
I also enjoy some of these songs but it is good for the believer to take even the words of this music and hold it up to scripture to see if it is sound.
Just a warning.

I don't know much stuff by Hillsongs but I do have 4 faves: "Shout To the Lord," "I Give You My Heart," "The Potter's Hand" and "The Power Of Your Love".
In fact we just sang one of their songs during worship (I Give You My Heart). For me that song describes my ministry with the Lord....I give Him my heart, soul, my everything and I live for Him ALONE.

FYI:
“I believe the promise about the visions and the dreams/ That the Holy Spirit will be poured out/ And His power will be seen/ Well the time is now/ The place is here/ And His people have come in faith/ There’s a mighty sound/ And a touch of fire/ When we’ve gathered in one place” (“I Believe the Presence” from Shout to the Lord).

I guess I am thinking of their newer stuff. Their sound has changed a lot in the past 5+ years and I think their songs are less wordy.
I think songs like "I Believe The Presence" is just declaring the desire for the Holy Spirit to be poured out. And is not meant to be a song that simply glorifies the miraculous.
At the Cross is beautiful!
