Adriano Mazzini, an Italian mud volcano expert at the University of Oslo and an author of the new study, said earthquakes could have ripple effects thousands of kilometers away and with delays of days.

A quake in Alaska, for instance, had been linked to later seismic activity in Yellowstone National Park far to the southeast.

Regarding the Utah quake, it shook for about 4 minutes. I've been in some humdingers living in california, but four minutes is sooooo long....That doesn't happen that I can remember in my lifetime....how often does such a long period of shaking occur?

on another thread in here, one of the links about the Utah quake was the possiblity it was casued by the cave in, not the cave in by the quake.
