Update: Rick Warren Pastors’ Conference Underway
Readers know by now that I and a number of others critical of Rick Warren’s teachings were given 11th hour invitations to an all-expenses-paid trip to Saddleback for an invitation only event for Pastors this week.
I published my invitation and my response earlier here at Slice.

After receiving my invitation, Rick Warren’s assistant emailed back and asked me to reconsider my decision not to attend. I wrote back and once again and stated my position.
My belief after receiving the invitation was that Rick Warren would be soon unveiling a new project to revive his now somewhat worn 40-Days of Purpose Program.
I was correct.
Rick Warren just announced today his new program, the 40-Days of Love campaign.
Expect a new book out sometime soon.
Rick Warren’s invitation to a number of my friends
and colleagues who publish books and articles about the Purpose Driven movement was done in conjuncion with Warren’s more aggressive response to his critics in recent days.
The issues we have raised are based on things that Warren has publicly written and spoken—things that are in the process of changing the face of American evangelicalism.
These are not personal disagreements, they are based on what Warren is disseminating to millions and millions of people as part of his P.E.A.C.E. plan.
While I did not feel led to attend the conference at Saddleback, two colleagues of mine who were invited are attending to hear what Rick had to say.
One of them is Chris Roseborough from A Little Leaven.
He is live blogging the event from Saddleback to let readers know what is being said by Rick Warren in this latest campaign.
Why is it important?
Because what Rick Warren does has an uncanny way of deeply affecting churches,
not just in America, but around the world, and that concerns all of us.
