What's the scoop on him? I have noticed his name in a couple of Emergent Church threads and was wondering...

Some of you may know that I have been talking to a Pastor's wife about their small church. Our city is full of churches and we are looking for the right fit. I was excited about some of the Bible studies for men and women (hubby needs that!). When I asked more about her beliefs, she gave me a little book by him called "This New Life"- I have just skimmed so far... haven't dug in real deep yet. Just curious especially since I found him in a few threads, as mentioned...

Also, please pray we do find the right church for our family!

Thanks!

Is he the guy that is on TBN? Someone I know mentioned him in regards to Word / Faith teachings: we are gods, prosperity is of God, poverty is of the devil, etc...

Breaking the Fear of Lack:
The fear of lack strikes people from every socio-economic level but if you are hooked up to God’s economy, you will have no need to fear lack. You will learn how to break the controlling power of the fear of lack and place your trust in God’s economy.

"hook up to God's economy"... He sounds like Copeland.

I went to his church several times and one Sunday in 2002 I was praying very deeply for my son to be set free and I felt my nicotine addiction being lifted off of me. I told my hubby that night and I have never smoked or craved another cigarette since. I am very thankful for that. I was put off by the church being told to let the Holy Spirit come on you and many started speaking in tongues at the same time. I felt uncomfortable with that part and looked for another church.
